After a long intermission I have finally completed my REA B74b horse car. (Attachment Link) (Attachment Link) (Attachment Link)
Whoa! More details?
The plan is to apply some clear orange paint to tone down the “blueish” tint of the regular Gyra Light. I might even apply a fourth coat of clear red paint to the red Gyra Light.
Nice job Dave!I wonder why not just use red LED for the red Gyra Light? It would produce a rich intense read light. White LED is just a blue LED with additional phosphor which converts some of the blue light to mainly yellow light (which does extend to some greens and reds, but there isn't much of the upper red spectrum there). A red LED emits light that is specifically in the red spectrum.
Painted the steps - just the steps - black, on my Golden State power.Took an entire afternoon just to mask them off! Something like 70 pieces of tape per engine to keep the black paint from wandering.
You are more fastidious than me George. I would have just stuffed a wad of paper towel inside the shell.
Spotted this on Virtual Railfan a month or two ago, spent thirty minutes recreating it in Fusion and added it to the list of water washable prints I've been doing... thus far I've not yet figured out a good workflow for the water washable 8k. Cleanup isn't as easy as the IPA washes.
