Another productive week, and the weekend hasn't even arrived yet!

First of all, I finished all the wiring for Lake Cowichan by installing the auxiliary bus and the connections to the singlets.


Then I completed assembly of the switch machines by installing the actuating wire.


Finally, I completed the necessary modifications to the benchwork framing for it to accept the new wiring and other components.  The big notch at the front is for the west siding switch machine; passage holes have been drilled through the front frame member for the fascia controller wires, and the notch in the cross-member will receive the aux and track power buses.


All being well, tomorrow my friend Tim (BCR 570) will be able to help me install the switch machines and then the project will be operationally complete.

 For your consideration, resulting from a discussion on the FB Maryland Midland page regarding Bayline #3065 leaving the property for repairs and some suggesting some kind of heritage repaint.  I was doing some other work when the idea dawned on me for this one.  This started out as an undecorated Atlas GP40 shell.

Announcing  the newest railroad to begin a heritage paint program, Genesee &  Wyoming has released #3065 from the paint shops in Butler, PA.  The unit  was sent there for replacement of the main generator.   This unit was  originally built for the Western Maryland Railroad as #3798.  It was  renumbered to #6573 when CSX took over.  It was sold to Indiana Southern  and repainted into their scheme in the mid 2000s as #4041.  G&W  acquired ISRR in 2012 and the unit acquired corporate colors  soon after, being renumbered again to #3065.  The Maryland Midland runs  on former WM trackage, so GW painted the locomotive into Western  Maryland fireball paint scheme and sublettered it for MMID.

Steel Mill trackage done. Next is the manual turnout control slide switches. And the highline and the scrap track, both are a raised track that need a foam roadbed that is cut to fit along with the slope.

Not a lot of time for training this week, but I was able to get the foundations for Arbutus Canyon poured.

Very little layout progress this week due to a difficult week at work.  I did manage to get the trackbed for the curves from Bond and Sundance toward Chetwynd laid:




And some long-running projects for the work equipment fleet have finally reached completion.  First up is snow plow BCOL 996006, which is a Train Collection 2000 resin casting with numerous detail parts:






Flanger car BCOL 996016 was scratchbuilt with a 3D printed roof and cupola, Sunrise plows, Eric smoke jacks, and numerous etched detail parts:






BCOL 6505 is the tie & truck car for the Prince George Auxiliary, which was converted from an Intermountain composite gondola with new styrene sides:






BCOL 6502 is the crane idler for the Prince George Auxiliary and was largely scratchbuilt in styrene with a portion of a Briggs Minibox body.  I have yet to add a few detail parts to the deck:






And finally the raison d'etre for the Prince George Auxiliary:  diesel crane BCOL 6501 built from a Briggs Models 3D printed kit:








These last three pieces complete my Prince George Auxiliary which I started ten or so years ago now, and it was very fulfilling to see the train complete at last:

And for a useless piece of trivia, I want to let you know that as someone who learned English as an adult I can say that puns are one of the hardest things to learn.  I still don't get some of them, but this one was easy.
