ESU Nano v5- What's between the boards?

I have a Nano with the long extra board.

Does the Nano use a Next 18 connector?
How is the wired board connected to the main board?

I don't want to cut my shrink-wrap yet.

Anyone have a pic?

It's not a Next18.  ESU calls it an "e24" because it has 24-pins.

Some Info here:  https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=52422.msg726808#msg726808

Earlier in that thread was a picture of the Nano and the wired connector board (V2) that comes with it.

And even earlier is a picture of the bottom of the Nano board.  The wired board shown with it was the first release and they were available mostly in EUrope.  By the time the US release came, it was the larger V2 board above.

E24 is not a standard DCC spec connector - it is ESU specific connector they use between the universal nano decoder and various motherboards they will be producing.

Thanks guys.    That's just what I needed.

The Nano comes with a LOT of function wires.  I only need white and yellow.  So I just wanted to know what the lay of the land was before I torn the shrink wrap off and removed about three wires.

Yes, with the E24 interface the tiny nano decoder has a full complement of AUX (function) outputs.  It is very versatile.  It is even used as a "brain" on larger H0 scale adapter boards.
