Exactrail FBOX’s thanks to Trainlife.com.
Now how about some bulkhead flats

Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

This. Here's one I was watching on eBay earlier this week, to see how high it'd get:

I really like the FBOX cars, they did a great job.  I think I need to stop by the shop in Provo later this month on my camping trip to pick up some of these.

A Amherst they said no bulkhead flats until they can fix the coupler height issue.  They said they have some ideas on how to fix it but no new production run till fixed.  Didn't seem like they were all that gung ho to work on it.

Well that didn’t go well for me wallet, but got a few headed my way way. These things are perfect for modeling box plants or paper mills, which is overhead traffic on my layout.

Going to have to use a time warp on my layout now with the GATX cars present, they were repainted in 2020

I finally received my shipment of these cars: 3 of the LRS/GATX and 3 of the new TTX patch logo cars.  I'm pretty happy with the LRS, though I find the paint to be a bit on the thick side and I would have preferred a slightly darker hue of blue.  ExactRail usually has excellent paint jobs, so this was a bit of a disappointment.  But I'm really glad they did this scheme.

The FBOX cars are more of a disappointment: the paint is quite thick, the hue is a garish lemon yellow, and the pad printing is pretty sloppy.  Here is an example, compared to an earlier release of said model:

old:

new:

If anything, these patched cars should be pretty faded by now.  But the more egregious issue is the slanted printing on "next load" and "Railcar Pooling Experts", which they nailed in the earlier releases.  I wondered if they tried to reproduce a particular car, but I could find no examples of patched cars that had this feature, and all three of my models do.

To add to the disappointment, several of my samples won't roll down my 2% grades, and I had to pay $41 shipping on a $179 order to get these (the LRS/GATX cars are sold exclusively by TrainLife).  :x

I am glad to have the GATX cars.  The new TTX cars, not so much.

Hate to see that. It is disappointing .

I checked their website and guess what? The promo pics have the same issue.

@GaryHinshaw that is very disappointing, I was going to pick up some of those FBOX cars.  The open-ended shipping had held me off but I still want one.

Horrible and inexcusable! I mean really. Has QA gone totally by the wayside these days?

Maybe that car was intended for a full side graffiti canvas

Agreed.  Caveat emptor!  But in the past, ExactRail has had some of the best paint jobs in the industry, so I guess I was hopeful.  QA does seem to be slipping though...

I'd be happy to set one aside for you if you want, though it appears you edited this post from earlier in the day, so maybe you don't want one after all?  ;)
