That was quick! Will there be a second, third, and fourth car? With flying saucer loads?
I'm in for one, looking forward to it.

How about few Starlink satellites which didn't make the orbit?   :D

BTW, I saw the string of those in the sky tonight. Cool stuff.

Well one benefit of manufacturing in the US I suppose. There's no way this would have went down well if they sent it to a factory in China.  :-X

That may be an all time record for minimal development time in the Model Railroading industry.  2 weeks from event to product announcement.

Gotta give them credit for striking while the iron is hot.

I am tempted even though I really have no use for a flat car that is out of my era.

What's next....a windowless coach "Classified Document Car"?

Plus, anyone manufacturing in China will be releasing theirs on April 1, 2026, if they are lucky.

@MTLJoe , 2nd car of the series.  Instead of a coach, perhaps a DODX caboose with windows plated over

They haven't run the Troop Cars in a while .. those would be great for this .. their caboose isn't anywhere close to a DOD crummy

I'd love one of those super big DOD crummys.  And yes I preordered the flatcar, though those ICG gondolas are screaming at me . . . . .

Atlas makes the closest EV style caboose that would work.  I believe they even did them in DODX?

The DOD cabs currently in service are International - they have X panel roofs, and the cupola is offset further to the rear than anything commercially available . Atlas cars are close except for the location of the cupola .. they are a close stand in ..

There is a guy on shapeways that sells WP configurations that are almost exact .. but in HO ..

The little antenna thingy is a pain to model. would need to be etched I think
