I finally settled on a track plan and have trains running! It’s a roundy round mostly focused on switching operations with either a through local to pick up interchange at the end of the line or a true local just working down to these industries and back. For my space, this was the best option, and I’m super excited to start making progress on building structures, scenery, etc again!

These cars were used to haul from Spruce Pine, NC. The stuff was used all over, I’m not sure who the main customers were (Ken Borowski could probably fill in the blanks on that story)
Here’s the second one done:

Not much happening on the layout this weekend other than packing up trains for the Madison show next weekend.

I did weather a couple of Intermountain cars this morning.

According to good ol' wikipedia it looks like the main use for feldspar is making glass and ceramics. Extra uses include using it as a filler in stuff like paint, rubber, and plastics.

All these beautiful models and fun new layouts on the thread this week, and here I am posting a picture of wiring.  Oh well, it's got to be done, and it's what I did this week.  I finished the track wiring under Lake Cowichan, installing the track bus, connecting feeders and frog juicers, and am happy to report no short circuits!

Next will be the auxiliary bus, singlets, and servos, and then the section should be ready to reinstall.  At that point it will be operationally complete, but I will still need to paint the fascia and mount the servo controls.

More 3d printing fun for me. Now we have a sport cab version of the 3800 class 2-10-2. Also threw a little paint on to check on the layering.

Full size cardstock mockups were made to test the new shelf design in 3D on the printed trackplan.   I iterated a number of times trying to get the feel of a downtown street stopping being downtown and transitioning to a less dense street with industry on it.

Agreed.  I built these bridge abutments with a mold constructed from scrap styrene and anchoring cement.

The bucket I bought is a lifetime supply, too!

This looks great!

Can I ask what process you did with the water? I have a port scene with water that goes to the edge of the layout as well. Not really wanting to go the resin route, if I can help it.

Feldspar was also used  in Bon Ami brand scouring cleanser - "Hasn't Scratched Yet!".  I don't know if it's even made today, I haven't found any in the local stores in years.
