I can understand the underwhelming reception to things from Intermountain.. GM50 can vouch for my personal disdain for them because of their failures to produce what they promise…

The only reason I shared this was for an update.. I hope they turn the corner… As N scalers we are limited, so to se a vendor “trying” to get on track I am grateful… I wish other vendors like Athearn and scale trains would push a little harder on the nscale production.. but they can only push so hard…

Some vendors aren’t trying and aren’t even willing to try… And I said directly to a vendor this past weekend…. “If you don’t build it, we can’t buy it” I won’t mention who it was but it wasn’t well received by the vendor…

With that said. I hope this is a move in the right direction for IM I hope by summer you’ll see some f units with sound… I could go on and on… but you catch the drift…

Well, that doesn't narrow the field very much.

Reminds me of the conversation I had at the W______ booth 15 (+/- 5) years ago when the National Train Show was in Grand Rapids.
Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

I don’t mind that at all… but what I was trying to convey to the guy was.. there is no way to gauge what people will buy if you don’t produce it… just seemed like a lazy excuse…  especially when the conversation was “hey we love your product is there any chance at you doing them in n scale?” The dude was like… F off!!… I was like whoa! Lol. His Head was a little swollen from having a nice product, I get it..

Even in this day and age there is plenty of prejudice directed at N scale.

Because it is a "toy train" scale.  Who knows why. But seriously, there is lots of orejudice in this world about all sorts of things.

The reason I often hear about not producing N scale models of items which sell well in H0 is because their market research indicates that they will not sell enough of them in N scale to make profit.

The latest Rapido newsletter notes that their HO center beam flat is selling really well, and that their N scale version is outselling the HO…

Well, makes sense. A centerbeam flat is a regular stock item from Walthers on a regular basis. When was the last time we had them in N, Red Caboose?

Isn't it funny if you model something that is common throughout all North American rail networks and isn't available in N scale how well it will sell?

Yes, funny that. There are plenty of common model gaps for manufacturers to fill in N and make a decent buck.
