Please don’t conflate your track issues as a product problem. You’ve already stated on another thread that the trackwork of the modular layout you ran the cars on was flawed. Don’t misrepresent your previous postings on this thread.

A lot of people I'm sure run on modular layouts, I was just curious to see if anyone else has ran ESM wheels on modular layouts.

Then state your query as such.  That is very different than insinuating that that wheels under-performed in general, and you'd get a lot more constructive feedback if you simply asked.

As an aside, the wheels weren't designed to operate in Rapido passenger equipment, Kato passenger equipment, or any equipment requiring a split-axle design.  These wheels have been used on all ESM X65 and X72 releases, and all but the first X58 release which utilized the very similar-designed BLMA wheelset.  It's a given that some people are running those models on modular layouts.

Packs of 60 would be great. I'm still debating whether to replace the wheels in my BLMA trucks with ESM wheelsets but they are definitely my go to for any MTL cars.

I would recommend leaving your BLMA wheels in place.  The ESM wheels are "cousins" to the BLMA wheels and they perform similarly.

Glad to see we have some good wheel set choices after a prolonged drought. Thank you for taking a business risk with these, Bryan. A bulk pack would be most welcome.
I'm not seeing any pics in this thread, would anyone mind posting? I'm particularly interested in the wheel thickness (dimension?) and face profile.
If this was posted elsewhere, I missed it and apologize.
Thanks, Otto

I don’t have the wheel thickness off hand, but here are two pics that show the wheel faces.

Yes, no issues since I've outlawed the use the of Kato #4s. And modules need to, at the least, have a non visible shelf between tracks. My G26s and the cars I've modified with ESMs have never given me issues over NTrak shows.

Looking good, Bryan, thank you. Just eyeballing here, they look to be about thick?

Thanks for the advice. Do you happen to know if the metal wheels on the new Atlas cars (ex: PS-1 boxcar) are also the same as the BLMA ones?

Apologies for double posting, but @bbussey have you ever considered designing painting jig for your wheelsets, for example as a shapeways print? I'd certainly buy one if it works well.

I can't verify but am pretty sure they are

I find it odd they are not putting metal wheels on everything at this point, especially in the master line.  I grabbed a few x72 boxcars yesterday, and they still have plastic wheels  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Yes I do know.  They are not.  They have a decent profile.  But they are steel wheels, which interfere with uncoupling magnets if you have them.  The good news is that they have a .540" axle length exactly, so all three of the premium wheels (BLMA, ESM, FVM) are drop-in replacements.

Oooh no ... it's hard enough getting the wheels to market!  :D

Thanks Jim. I still interested in the wheel thickness dimension, for comparison purposes, if anyone has it.
Thanks, Otto

I measure 1.68mm /.0665” wheel face to wheel back on the ESM.
FVM measures 1.5mn /.595”
