Canadian modelers help.

Hey guys

Im working on future family tree projects here at MTL and one on my list is for Canadian Pacific.  Hoping to get a head start with a little help.  What I am looking for are fallen roads acquired by CP...still in their original schemes with the new CP paint over blocks. So far the series has been really successful and I'd like to have CP as one of our future releases.  Anyone have any photos of cars we might be able to use, that would be great.  This would include any road aquired by CP....SOO is an easy example.

Thanks

The family tree series are awesome.  When the CSX series was announced, I was originally only going to get ones that would fit into more modern times (maybe 3 or 4 cars max).  I ended up buying every car in the series.  The latest BNSF car released was so good, I almost bought it (Hobby funds tight now :D )

Keep up good work !

If I understand you correctly you're looking to patched predecessor roads with CP patches? From my recollection CP didn't really patch cars, just kept original marks, and even ordered new cars with their marks (CP Rail covered hoppers with SOO marks delivered in the 90's for example). Only exception I can think of is the TH&B cylindrical covered hoppers (1500-1549) were patched with CPLX marks and same numbers, but this was an internal transfer to a leasing subsidiary, and many CP cars were similarly transferred.

I don't have a photo but I think a car for the DSS&A would work as well.
If I'm not totally mistaken, the CP had shares in the DSS&A before the SOO bought them.

Oooooooo. So in 1908(?) the CPR absorbed the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway on Vancouver Island. In the ‘70’s CP painted a number of double door box cars with E&N reporting marks…. Presumably to encourage their return to Vancouver Island is what I’ve read.

I know they aren’t of the patched reporting mark variety but they fit the family theme.

The majority were 40ft double sliding doors numbered 292000-292399

And then a small series of 40ft combination door box cars. 292500-297570

There's also these, but probably not what was requested.

Not really a thing.

CP didn't patch and renumber subsidiary rolling stock. Stuff stayed in original reporting marks. The odd stuff got repainted in CP colours and logos, but always keep original numbers. (The only things they eventually renumbered were locomotives, but only when they got full CP repaints, not patches).

They even keep using SOO reporting marks for new cars in the 1990s and 2000s.

If you're looking for CP patches, you have to go for secondhand stuff like the ex IPD box cars they bought in the 1980s, not patched subsidiaries. Someone may need to remind me if MTL actually makes any of these bodies as I'm in HO not N (or you can go stand-in...)

You'll also find CN isn't much for this either, except for some double door 40' cars transferred between DWC and CN, and some GTW auto parts cars transferred to CNA.
