I have a hard time keeping up with Railsmith releases (his website being somewhat convoluted). Have there been any other newly tooled (IE post-walthers) cars besides the plan 7510 coach, duplex sleeper and blunt end obs?

Thanks,
-Mark

He has 12-4 sleeper (UP, Wabash and?), a diner (Frisco/MKT Texas Special but will also be done in other paint), and Baggage-Mail (also Texas Special, and in other paint) all in the works.  The 12-4 should ship early in '23.

Received my three Blunt end SP sleepers today. As usual a pretty nice job. the the rear end looks slightly grafted onto my car in the UP colors. Not so on my other two cars. Yes the scale coupler on the end and the working taillight are a very nice touch.                               Nate Goodman (Nato).Salt Lake, Utah.

The other tooling question was answered. The website piece makes sense when you think about it being set up to sell passenger trains. Some education is needed to explain passenger trains, as opposed to buying Freight cars for a train which everyone seems to get. So the Build a Train concept prevails more so that individual pages of coaches, sleepers, diners etc as we maybe be used to in other formats.

Weren’t the original prototype cars modified to this use and appearance?

OK cool, so if those are all pending I guess I'm up to date.

Thanks,

The website makes no sense if you're trying to sort out what models have been made. But that's my problem, not his.

My GS colored Blunt End Sleeper arrived yesterday and didn't get a chance to check out until today. Looks great, and I happened to be at eye level and noticed how dark the chassis/trucks were compared to the other 10-6 sleepers. I almost thought it was a light black at first.

Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

Pullman, built some Blunt End Sleepers specifically for City of San Francisco service, they had lighted COSF train sign boxes on the ends originally. These cars are sometimes misnamed as Blunt End Observations, which they are not. Later SP rebuilt several more 10-6 cars with blunt ends. Later all these car had no train signs on the car end box. I would send Lowell an email with your information request especially if you are using on your website.  I would imagine he would help.

He's pretty good about answering emails, although it might take a day or two.

Does he still run his train shop in Portland as well?

The "Announcing!" link at the top gets you to a list of cars by announcement date.  That might be the closest to what you need:

When I did my list of upcoming cars, I forgot these-
https://lowellsmith.net/product/railsmith-new-diner-jim-hills-full-meal-fleet/

Those appear to be the same diner that Con-cor did, but Lowell is doing them full length (CC's were a few feet short) and correct orientation of windows (CC's were  a mirror image of the actual car, so were "backwards").

Yes, thanks - I have spent plenty of time navigating that website and am quite familiar with that page. What would be more helpful to me is a chronological "new arrival" page. Making the scale more obvious in the listings would be helpful as well. But again, that's my problem, not his.

Surprisingly enough (or maybe not), TRW is probably the best resource when it comes to keeping up with new arrivals. God bless those multi-page bitch threads that inevitably spring up  :P

Lowell hasn't run Hobbysmith in a very long time.  It's (very well) run by a terrific fellow named Ron Maize.
Nice selection of N scale and great customer service.  I miss visiting there.
