OldEastRR, according to his website, they should be arriving first quarter 2023. He showed me a sample car at the Portland RPM event, ion early October. We ended up talking about passenger cars and catching up in general for a couple of hours. I have known him since he opened the Hobbysmith shop in Portland.

Any news on the UP "Western" sleeper  announced early this year? My first order for him .... how long does it usually take from paying up front and actually getting the model?

Website  say January  2023

Does he send a tracking number to you when he ships them?

He's not amazon.  But he's always come through for me.

I've never gotten an email with tracking number. However if you have USPS Informed Delivery, you get the tracking number once it ships.

An email with a tracking number would be nice or if it would update in your account with shipping information that you could check on your own would be great.

I can usually get packages in less than a week from Railsmith.  Mailed on Monday, they should arrive by Friday.  Prineville is in central Oregon, not a major urban area, so the mail does take a day or so longer than from a big city, but not that much.

I live in Kentucky, so a fair distance away.

I got my SP silver/red one in the mail yesterday.  The MT true scale coupler on the tail end is a nice touch in addition to the working tail light.  :)

Amazing! Considering he only goes to the Post Office once a week. I've waited 2-3 weeks for an order on a car in stock. And still ended up being the wrong car. I like his cars, and its his business, but sometimes how its ran is less than desirable.

My blunt end sleeper and pair of 10-6 Sleepers for the Cascade should be here tomorrow, even though it showed delivery of today.
Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

How long did it take? I ordered mine Sunday night.

I would say a couple of weeks. Lowell told me he places a priority on shipping out all of the preorder customers. So when he gets the product he prints the list and shops those first.  So if your Sunday order came in after the initial list you will have to wait. If it isn’t a one man show than it is just him and his wife. I have seen no indication that he has any employees.

I have ordered dozens of cars over many different trains. NP, SP, GN, RI, SPS, IC and many others. They are the only company I prepay for on my orders.

Yes, my time estimate was for the actual mail journey.  It doesn't include the time between ordering and shipping.

My last order of an in-stock item took a while, for various reasons.  First, his order system refused to cooperate with either of my browsers, so I mailed him the order and a check.  (For what it's worth, the shop works fine now)

Then, he was out of town for a while, so didn't open his mail, which isn't too unusual for a very small business.

Once he got it, the order took four days to arrive, from his mailing it on Monday, to my receiving it on Thursday.  Altogether, for an old-fashioned mail order, it took 27 days, from me mailing the order, to receiving the package.  Not out of line with what I expected 40 years ago, from small companies.  Remember "Allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery"?

An order mailed by Kato USA, from Illinois, the same Monday, took six days to get here!
