Would you expect Scale Trains Rivet Counter level of add-on details on an Atlas loco?

It's not like it has never been done, so why not?   Perhaps one day they will decide to become competitive.....   :?

The decoders will not be a 21 pin decoder but a different Soundtraxx decoder. Was unable to get more detail on which decoder exactly sadly.

Were those grabs on top of the nose plastic?  They look hideous, and stick out way too far.  And the steps on the front of the nose and the "eyebrows" are still molded in.  I guess it was an experiment.  No wonder I found that one forgettable.

Hopefully it's some sort of board decoder that is compatible with the LokSound drop in boards Atlas had been using.

What, no Illinois Central #7000 (which also had the L-shaped windshield)?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

That's a former demo unit.  I might have to get one of they do the EMDX 4351 as it tested on the CGW in '66.

Just be glad these aren't part of the Atlas Master Plus Line.  They'd probably be $500.  :P

If you don't know what I'm talking about, there's a newly tooled hopper in HO with a MSRP of $83 that has gotten a bit of attention by the HO guys.

Kinda like the newly tooled N scale 3230 cement hopper at $47.95?

I have two Atlas C630s I have converted to C630Ms with Dofasco trucks and the Quad filter mod. I replaced the universals with ones from Briggs models. They run/pull like champs now.

I don't know about the SD38/39, as I don't have any need for the units.  But the SD40 probably won't work on the SD45 chassis, based on usual model chassis design.

The prototypes use the same frame, but the cabs are in different locations, and the bodies are longer.  Most model chassis have the entire body full of metal, for weight, so the SD45 chassis wouldn't fit in the shorter SD40 body.

That was one advantage when I kitbashed my SDP40.  The cab is in the same location as on an SD45, so the SD40 body, minus the rear end, fit perfectly on the SD45 chassis.

And, yes, a Big Sky Blue SD45 would be nice, IF they get the blue right!  The Great Northern historical society can give them the prototype paint information, but too many companies today seem to use Conrail Blue, which is much to dark.

Kato SD40 and SD45 share a chassis.

I have a bunch of Kato SD45's in Santa Fe so I will be looking to see what comes out in the next run. I'm looking forward to seeing some skinny SD45's  :D :o

I still don't know what you're talking about.  Are there specifics about this hopper?
