So I enabled DC operation and got the same result - sound and lights, but no motor control. Would this be something covered by warranty?

There is no motor control ever, but all sound and light outputs are functioning. When it’s on the programming track, I can access and change CVs, but still no motor control

So the loco is now permanently dead (as far as the motor power goes).

Like I mentioned, I would try uploading another (different than the original)  sound project (to purge the decoder of any possible problems) snd see if the motor behavior changes.  If  not, I suspect the decoder might be kaput.  Send it to  ESU for repair/replacement.

Unfortunately, no.  You need someone with a LokProgrammer to load any sound file.

Sorry. I thought you had a Lokprogrammer.

The other test I mentioned was to test the decoder using another motor, preferably with the decoder also removed from the model.  Other than that, there  is not much else I  think you can try.  Returning the decoder to ESU for repair/replacement is probably the next step. Unless someone else has some other ideas?
