Most parts are from various Showcase kits. Debbie is very good at grabbing parts that are not on the website for special orders. Here we have a Brigadier chassis with Kodiak cab. The hi rail equipment is from their swivel dump truck. A-frame pedistal is from the grapple truck with large extended crane arm from their three axle Mow truck. The steel bed  is from the IH flatbed and sides are from the R190 stake bed.

This is a much more simple conversation. A swivel dump bed and hi rail equipment were added to a 70's era Brigadier cab and chassis.

I’ve been there several times taking dozens of photos.
Simpson and more recently, Green Diamond Resources have gone to great lengths to try and prohibit people from getting on the bridge, while still affording access.

I saw a picture online of this ASAB/Bay Line woodchip hopper. (Search for ASAB and 1445 on RailcarPhotos.com) I have 6 others from various manufacturers and Shapeways, but this one stood out with its underbelly tubes, I guess to increase capacity.
I had some Evergreen Metal Roofing - 4522 which comes with 6mm slots for .010 by .030 strips that come in the packet. This seemed to space out correctly for other Woodchip hoppers I had so figured I'd give it a try. Here it is, basic box, Side strips and top chord on, end strips as well. Train shows are back!  Last Sunday Greg, Nolan and I attended the first Victoria Train Show in several years.  New venue, smaller but well situated and well attended by the public:

I was at the Sidney show too!  Was nice to see it back, but the new venue is so much smaller than the old one yet seemed almost as well attended.  When I went it was nearly shoulder to shoulder the whole time, made it hard to browse the tables and things.  The sidney location wasn't a bad venue, but the location makes it pretty far for anyone coming from anywhere other than North Saanich.  Juan de Fuca rec was such a more central location for the population.  I mean I'd love a big show at the downtown convention centre so I could just walk there lol.

It's cool that you're part of that BC Rail layout display I always see there!  I love that you guys aren't selling anything, you just have a whole table just to let the world know about your cool private layout you're working on.  Always happy to see you guys at the shows and your nicely custom painted trains.

In addition to discussing the latest from MTL, I did get a little modeling done.

Almost done with the tank car from ATSFNScaleModels- looking at the photo of the car several times actual size, I realize that I need to do a bit more ditzing with decals, and replace the "Tk-J" lettering that must be stuck to one of my fingers after getting trucks and couplers on, get a coat of flat on it and then do some weathering.  But overall, I am pleased with the outcome-




And as long as I was working on decals- below are a Con-cor flat car and Lima gondola from the early days of N scale.  The flat is close dimensionally and has the general features of an ATSF Ft-N as they originally looked. Most if not all were rebuilt, and most also lengthened.  But given that these models have a metal underframe, rebuilding seemed much easier with some Atlas cars I also have, so I decided to finish this one as car that had escaped rebuilding until the mid 50s timeframe of my planned layout.
The old Lima gondola has been painted and decalled as an EJ&E gondola built in the mid 1920s as it might have looked in the mid 1950s.  I don't know exactly what those EJ&E gondolas looked like, but the Lima generally resembles a USRA mill gon, although 12 panels instead of 13. It also resembles a PRR G29, so I place it in that era. 

Now for the hard part- those old cars had "clip on" trucks and I hope to replace them- but the MTL adapters don't fit.  I am hoping to find some rod or tubing that fits into their bolsters so I can use some trucks with better details.

Evergreen 1/8 inch tubing is a tight press fit in ConCor flatcar/gon bolsters, and can then be drilled 5/64 to take MT truck pins.  I ended up doing that with several of these cars I have as log cars, as well as a kitbashed 65 ft gon that had the underframe glued in to reinforce the body.

The easiest way I found was to score the tubing, by rolling it under a hobby knife, 3/32 inch from the end.  Don't cut it off!  Shove the whole thing into the bolster hole, then snap the end piece off in the hole.  Mine fit tight enough that I could drill the hole larger without having to glue the tubing in place.

This is an update of a photo posted a year or two ago, just with different locos in the yard.  Yes, the background trees and the portacoms are real (from a photo), but getting closer to starting an actual layout.  Exciting!!!!!!!

Fraser, BC enclosed water tank and station on the WP&Y.  1:300 scale, resin 3D printed.  Been working a lot on this over the past two weeks, it took about 3 iterations to get it "right".  Primed but not painted (although the main color is oxide red.)   Also designed decals for the signage, plus sets for the T scale FP7's for CN, SCL, PRR, PC, and B&O.  [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Finally tackled a long dormant project - add ditch lights to my 8-40C.
Still in a learning curve with my 3D printer, so also was a test of how small I can go with details. A 0603 LED will fit into the back of the ditch light.
