A couple months ago I finally caught the local switching the building supply siding located on a switchback here in town.  Possibly more interesting is the act of teleportation the local UP crews seem to possess.

Here's the location.

I'm standing on the culvert that goes under the roads where an old siding used to run.

In years past I would have said it's unusual. But I've seen it several times this year.

June 22nd saw the freighter American Spirit unloading limestone into the Carmeuse hopper in Burns Harbor... While on the end of the unloading boom, I caught Norfolk Southern SD40-2's 3344 and 7147 working the Port of Indiana.

Thanks Bryan; I got lucky on this one.  If you look closely in the background, you can see the red upperworks of the GL Towing tugs Kansas and Massachusetts, built in 1927 and 1928.

Hey Jason. I'm not sure if I would call this a switchback. This is just a trailing point switch really. Switchbacks are usually a zig zag up a mountain.

Did you look a the google map?  It goes off the main, up the hill to the point in the film then back to the siding.  Isn't that a switchback? I guess it's the elevation gain and reversing direction that make me think of it that way.

A little fresh something that rolled through town a couple weeks ago. Pretty sure @MTLJoe works with some folks who might be able to roll this out of the shop.

I assume that UP raised the logo and road number as a preventative measure against tagging.  :P

Makes sense.  I thought the same thing when I saw TTX cars the same way.
