Ed you could always decant the camo paint outside and then air brush for better control and less stinky. Idea for thought.

I've been told by numerous folks that the camo paint has been discontinued.   A lot of HO guys use it, and it's in "APB" status they have been soliciting help from other modelers in other locales to check their local stores to see if there is stock.

This is a spurious rumor.  I went to the Krylon homepage and the Amazon Rust-Oleum page, and camo colors are readily available and plentiful.  No "APB" (whatever that stands for) on the Krylon homepage for their Camouflage Ultra-Flat Paints, and no mention that Rust-Oleum Camouflage Paint is being discontinued.

Luckily, there are some easy solutions to overspray and the problem of airborne particulates which I perform when doing any spray painting indoors.

As for overspray, first, since the rattle can method requires overspray to tint the sides of the rails, total elimination of it isn't desired.  Frankly, there isn't that much overspray to the sides of my trackage on my unfinished scenery when doing this. I paint and ballast my track usually after my Styrofoam land-forms are carved and have a coat of thick, flat, exterior Latex paint on them...but before finished scenery of any kind is on that portion of my layout I'm working on. 

Painting track should be done well before scenery is started because it's difficult to mask off and cover finished scenery. Yeah, I know that most layouts are finished progressively, with some sections being finished before other sections and airborne particulates can be a problem if spraying is done without taking precautions.                         

While spraying and afterwards, airborne particulates are probably floating around for several hours before settling on the rest of the layout and everything else, and need to be minimized so finished portions of my layout I don't want any airborne paint particulates to fall on, I cover with new, never used, thin plastic sheeting readily available at WalMart.  Then, I set up my big Ridgid wet/dry shop vacuum that's equipped with a quality filter and a removable paper bag to suck most of the particulate matter out of the air, with the sucking end of the hose within a couple of feet of where I'm spraying.   I do this when I'm spraying inside, anywhere other than in my spray booth, both with rattle cans and with my airbrushes (airbrushes also produce both overspray and fine airborne particulates albeit much finer stuff than rattle cans).

When I bought my big Rigid wet/dry vacuum that I use inside my home (as opposed to the one I use in my shop/garage) I looked specifically for being able to attach smaller, longer hoses to it, as well as "Fine Dust" and HEPA filters and removable paper bags because one of the uses for it I planned on was using it to suck particulates from rattle can & airbrush painting out of the air of my layout room when painting/weathering the layout.

Although there's probably a potential for igniting flammable fumes in the air using a vacuum cleaner to filter the air...for the amount of paint being used for painting track, I don't think it's a real problem since I've been doing it for years with no ill effects.

Yes, two years without product would lend "discontinued" to be a reasonable take.   And I would not exactly call 7-14 days via Amazon "readily available", but perhaps it is finally making a comeback.  Hope so.

"Readily available" means that I saw and bought cans of Krylon Camo paint last week at WalMart...not for painting my track, but for painting my new LWRCI AR-15...however, since I didn't use nearly all of the Camo Black and Camo Brown, it is now reserved for trackage.

No, I don't believe I'm dense, but it seems that we hang out in different circles, using different lingo.  I have never heard or used All Points Bulletin in the way you used it. I'm no being an a$$ - I'm serious.  Also, I was not the first one here asking this (stupid to you) question. Robert G.was the first one to comment on WTF is APB (used in the context you used it)?!   I consider Robert G. to be an intelligent human being.

Is there an equivalent mix formula for using VMC colors?   Or should one just stick to VMA if one needs to mix RR colors?
