I finally began reasonable progress on the town structures on the layout.  There’s still plenty of detail painting and weathering to do, but this sure beats four raw plastic walls, which was the status for more than four years.

Some more progress on the Garrison, MT coal dock.

I built a two track testing/programming shelf in an alcove of my workshop. The rear track is used for addressing/programming, the front for testing both DC and DCC locos. A DPDT switch (on the far right) allows me to test both. Today I took a page out of @peteski book and added some brass rods to simplify wheel cleaning. When really gunky, I like to use GooGone first, followed up with 91% isopropyl alcohol. For lighter cleaning, the alcohol alone does a good job.

More Wabash heavyweights.   All are Micro-Trains heavyweights,  with TruColor paint, Gary Roe decals, Tamiya Semi-Gloss overspray.  As before, the roadname or PULLMAN lettering in the center of the letterboards is applied one letter at a time to get the spacing right.     These are the last of my Wabash passenger cars - phew!   Now I have to finish the E7.

WAB 175 - total foob.  The number is for a 60' full RPO.  This is neither of those things.

My latest layout update:

-Completed both the Eastbound and Westbound mainlines
-Installed Blue Point turnout controls on all curved turnouts (they will be on all turnouts eventually)
-Completed the trackwork in Camp Douglas
-Completed both passing sidings on the Eastbound main in New Lisbon

And created a nest so they could have a proper place to rest, because us N scalers can be that way

Yes, 100# text weight paper to be exact. Empty jewel cases can be found on eBay, and I prefer those to the cardboard packaging of some n scale manufacturers. Or in this case, no packaging.

Wow, lots of great modeling here already!  And all I did was dig in the dirt and put down rocks, trees, and track… hope you all enjoy this week’s progress (link here to the Layout Engineering update) anyway!

Solid rock foundation    Here is the P&LE branch going up to Carbon Limestone. That is their old trestle, now a foot path. I also have a cool photo from on top of the bridge looking down at the waterfall.
