Since we're digging into the archives...

Hard to believe this was ten years ago. Wow.

Caught a couple ratty Dash-9s in La Junta yesterday.

Got a video but the wind and rain picked up right as they started leaving so it's not very good.

Still in the archives, here is one of my favorites from 2014.

Powder River Basin, WY, June 1996. Two BNSF loads pound it out up Logan hill. The SD70MAC trio was crawling while the C30-7/SD40-2 quintet screamed up from behind to overtake them at 2x the speed, with perfect timing for the photographer. Incredible sound! Wish I had the old camcorder rolling for it…

From the wayback machine, this was taken some time in the 2010-2016 range, when various SD40-2 lease units were roaming the CSX system

D795 westbound just entering the east side of Gettysburg

And from more recent times, like mid-June, another Jacks Mountain Tunnel video has appeared on the YT channel of BaltimoreandOhioRR.  This isn't an easy hike, I'm hoping he's got landowners permission to access because these help greatly for when I get to building Hanover Sub 3.0

Since we’re going retro this week, I took this picture before a CRHS Rail-B-Q on May 2, 2009.  This was one of the last “blue leader” shots that I got before they were gone.

Okay, so forgetting what I said before about poor videos, some just need to be posted.  My son got a heads up about a BNSF southbound train that had a Warbonnet and a Bluebonnet so we headed down to the depot which is about the only area to get any lighting at night.  When we got there the signal was yellow for a northbound train so we sat and waited to see what was up.

Just a heads up, I let my son use my phone to take these videos because his doesn't shoot at night very well.

I don't tend to bait my pictures or videos, but the ending on this one was unexpected.

And here's the BNSF train.

Man, those Rail-B-Qs and the chases they produced were the best.
Here's the previous year: http://railfanning.kapuscinski.net/2008/08/a-couple-of-chases-during-the-august-2008-crhs-rail-b-q/

Love that foreground blur to give a sense of motion!

And there was PLENTY of it! @GonzoCRFan is the Marcus Grönholm of central PA.

He went so hard that parts of his car fell off as we dove into Newport.

I only thought I was going to die once or twice, but the STI physics distortion bubble is real.

This thread got me looking through that gallery and convinced me to submit some stuff to Railpictures. Much to my surprise I got one past the goalie!
