Progress on the outdoor WAG layout, but not much to show for it yet.  I got my delivery of stone, which will fill in the subroadbed, fill part of the raised bed area, and help shape some embankments.  Some blocks for the raised bed garden/turnaround loop/PC Newberry Yard are on hand.  Got to go get about 60 more this coming week.

Got to watch my back for the vicious jungle cat.  I could get attacked with potentially fatal cuteness at any time.

I’m also cutting and bending my own transition curves and half-length 8’ diameter curve pieces.  I’ll need to re-lay my existing loop to fit these in, but I hope they’re with the work.  Because it’s a LOT of work for each piece.

I swear, this was easier in N scale… now pardon me while I stare wistfully at my trusty old Xuron rail cutters…

More photo-worthy news soon later this weekend, I hope!

I’ve nearly finished my VIA/Diet Pepsi F40….. just in time for the Rapido Models arrival.  At least they aren’t doing the Diet Pepsi train.

Tonight was decoder instal/ditch light wiring, and assembly.

I Scratch built the Garrison, Montana interlocking tower this week.  Maybe I should start laying track...

That looks really good!  What did you use for the brick material?

Hey thanks!  It's JTT 1/200.  Really nice to work with.  Soft.

As a diversion from working on a worm-drive mechanism for my T-gauge models, and to get some practice with the new Phrozen SLA printer, I made this Jeep mail truck (N scale).  It started with a challenge in the 3D printing group, taking a design from Thingverse and revising it to print successfully and add some detail.  I'm thinking about doing a set of decals for it.

I actually ran an ops session on my White Pine layout this weekend. Due to life being crazy I haven’t run it in about 10 months. The session went well and kept two of us busy for an hour and a half.

Sorry for deleting this post earlier, but I had a bit of a catastrophe: I dropped the Men At Work diorama, and there was quite a lot of damage, especially to the excavator. I wasn't sure if I could repair anything, but things are pretty much back the way they were, if a bit worse for wear. The latest and greatest is an all-new dump truck:

Jesse:  That Jeep looks as good as many of the injection-molded N scale vehicles.  Definitely puts the Shapeways stuff I've seen to shame.

Got most of the lower level ready for track but will move onto the upper level of the layout first and get it so that I can put it in place later.  More on the layout build ( HERE )

Finished a custom handrail job of two Life-Like Alco C624's a couple weeks ago for an SP&S fan on the west coast, this is my soldered brass handrails over stock paint.   Plastic ones were completely broken and ugly to begin with.

Half the fun on these is not damaging the factory paint and then matching it.

This was (as noted) originally from Thingverse, but was modified.  It would've been a quick/easy build from scratch though, provided I had a good set of measurements anyway.

I resisted buying a 3D printer until the latest batch of 8K SLA printers came out and I decided to pull the trigger.  Now I'm definitely sold.  The resolution is better and the material is stronger (I'm still on the first bottle of resin that came with the printer, but there are others with different characteristics to try.)  I agree that the surface is now about the same as injection molding, but there is still some layering visible.  Not an issue after primer and paint though.  The supports are a little tricky to get the hang of, but I'm getting better with each model.

Can you put the now fixed Jeep back up on Thingieverse? Think they call it a remix.

Bada-bing:  First time I've uploaded anything to Thingieverse so I hope it came out ok.
