Well Ritchie it is appropriate that you should kick things off this week with a crane photo as that is also my contribution for the week.  After completing the chassis last week, this week was spent on the cab body.  Prior to adding the details, I needed to sand the curves from the sides up to the roof to eliminate the print lines:

Left side showing addition of side grab iron and antenna and stacks on roof:

Left rear view showing ladder:

Right rear showing grab irons:

Right side showing side grab iron and roof details again:

Cab floor and boom are next.

Balancing that crane isn't a problem.  Notice the rail clamps on the front corners?  There's another pair on the other end.  As long as the weight is within the crane's rating, it won't tip, unless the track itself turns over.

During the initial COVID quarantine in early 2020, I had built a first-edition HOn3 MDC/Roundhouse outside-frame 2-8-0 from the late 70s/early 80s, brass wheels and all. I had installed a Sagami can motor and the NWSL regearing kit plus a Soundtraxx Tsunami2 with a sugar cube speaker. Well, she came around again on the to-do list this week and I installed a Soundtraxx CurrentKeeperII…what a difference! These are three shots from her shakedown lap around my RGS layout this week.

And...proof of life. She sounds like a Blackstone and runs, well...almost as well?

I more or less finished the Garrison, Montana stand-in depot.

Well, if that is a stand in, I really want to see it's final replacement. Great work!

So today I went to a model train show for the first time since 2019[ed] and spent a whopping $24 CAD.

Well, it is not N-scale but it has been taking up most of my free project time since November and it is done! Here is the real car:

A 1:25 scale replica of a 1932 Ford Victoria gasser that my friend’s dad and uncle had back in 1964.

His birthday was today and it was still a bunch of subassemblies and challenges to figure out on Thursday.
Got it done with about an hour to spare!

It was a fun project, but I’m excited to get back to N-scale stuff.

Best regards,
Michael

Looking good Michael.  I suspect those were custom-made decals.
Nice to see another hobby being represented.  I also dabble in model automobiles/trucks/bikes/airplanes.

Model vehicles are a natural second hobby for a model railroader.  Throughout the history of railroads, they've both worked with and competed against other transportation.

And, as I'm sure you're aware, but some newer members might not be, it doesn't have to be N scale to be in the Weekend Update.  The topic is in "N and Z" solely because that's where most of the members are most likely to see it.
