Yeah I hadn't seen that yet.....

I didn't even realize CCS was part of Fox Valley....  I had an idea that the FVM Intermodal line was an expanded line of DI tooling, but it never seemed to get out of the planning stages.

So all the stuff Mfg'd by Intermountain... is staying with Intermountain..  :x

Are we sure about that? I would like to think that they would be switched to ST's factory.
Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

Yes, only the FVM line moved to ScaleTrains, read the release they put out.

Intermountan’s website has removed all FVM references in their production list.

Rapido can't be too happy about the FVM RD-4s coming back just as their much more expensive version is about to hit the market.

Hmmm...   this might work though - mostly TILX with a few CEFX's mixed in.   On NS I have seen mixed owners of similar coal hoppers/gons on the same unit train.   As coal demand changes, matched fleets seem to be the exception.

It may be easier to follow the bouncing ball if one understands that Des Plaines Hobbies, Ron Sebastian, was the driving force behind some of the companies listed. O Scale America, S Scale America, and Centralia Car Shops HO and N. Matt was an employee of Ron’s for a couple stints over the years. He eventually married Ron’s daughter. So he’s now family, and when Ron passed, he “inherited” (Sue Sebastian is very much alive and well!) all the various bits and bobs of the scattered businesses.

Now, adding a couple businesses on top of your own line of FVM stuff, plus the referenced health issues with their youngest son? Time to simplify!  FVM to Scale Trains, mostly the big tooling. Simplify the rest under Scale America.

I think it will be great for all involved.

I think that Ron Sebastian's contributions, especially to those of us in N scale, are often underestimated.  The Des Plaines passenger car kits and Centralia obviously also influenced and contributed to the development of American Limited, M&R, a half dozen small companies that sold various Des Plaines kits or details under their own labels.  Des Plaines Hobbies served as the test lab and test marketer for a lot of products over the past 40 years.

When I think about it, my most frequent answer to "Nobody makes a......" or "Nobody carries...." is "Have you called Des Plaines Hobbies?"

Also, it's not 2009 anymore and you can't go back in time and get something from then.

It's 2022. If you want a new GEVO, it's these or Kato.

Yeeuupp!  overall I've been quite please with the FVM GEVO's. I hope they keep the DCC ready versions with the same DCC Conversion. Those were so easy a caveman like me can do it.

Sounds like the tooling FVM had will stay as is and come from Scale America. Leaves me wondering if we will see Rivet Counter and Operator versions of FVM engines and cars, or just the same old tools with their shortcomings.

Not sure why this got a downvote -- it seems to be a legitimate question?

Probably a fat finger by accident.  I upvoted to negate it.  Problem solved.

If we had the capability to see who voted, question who and why could be easily answered.

Peteski:  Very true, especially if it was a mistake.  On the other hand, allowing us to see who voted, either way, would probably result in some offended recipients, or disagreeing third-parties, which would inevitably result in more locked threads.

Not sure if I agree.  Another forum I  frequent uses 4 types of votes (not just up/down). and when it was first introduced, the voters were not visible.  After some requests, voter visibility was enabled and it did not cause any extra friction.  I suspect that the fear of being moderated, suspended, or banned still keeps people in check.  I would be curious who votes (especially on my posts). Plus, seeing who voted, and which way, would also make people think twice before spiteful down-votes (which despite all the excuses given, I know they do happen).

OK, if you've had experience with it, I'll defer to that experience.

If it doesn't work, we can always change back.  No software has to permanent!

I just wish there was a way to know when you get a vote and what topic when it happens. It would be nice to see what posts are getting votes.

It would also be useful to see the total ups and total downs.  The way it is being done now, with just the net count, tends to make a contentious topic with evenly split opinions look the same as a "nobody cares" topic.

And, while I am at it, maybe we need to split the types of votes, so that there are "modeling" votes, "like" votes, "I agree" votes and maybe event "That pisses me off" votes.  Combining all of those under "Respect" doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.  And, just making a net count out of votes of all those types really doesn't say that much.

Or, maybe we should just dispense with the voting and rely on the moderators to handle things that start to get out of hand.
