@BCR 570 that bottle of Solvaset looks to be about as old as mine... late 80s vintage, maybe?
I got to go visit the gentleman who brought a gift caboose to my layout last week (see Weekend Update 5/29/22). He paints and details airplanes, model cars and trains. Cabeese are his specialty (especially NE cabins). He usually starts with a Bachmann or LifeLike shell and appropriately paints (body, railings, steps, etc.) and decals them. He then puts on an MT smokestack and appropriate Atlas caboose trucks (single leaf sprung) and body mounts MT couplers. He will then add appropriate details such as blanking out windows, adding rain gutters to the LV cabeese, extra decals to CNJ caboose assignments. The Penn Central cabin was inherited from the LV and was classified as an N5G.He has an extensive library of Morning Sun books to get the cabin details correct. Here is some of his work. (Sorry guys, I already bought the PRR Quality Craft N6):(If anyone is interested, I believe he sells them for around $35-$40.PM me and I’ll PM his name and phone number – he is not on the forums or computers).A WM just to keep @wm3798 happy.Peen Central N5g
Not trying to rain on the parade or nitpick but it does stand out, since I can't readily find pictures of those specific CNJ cabeese, are those specific numbers supposed to have a window behind the stove? At least when I researched doing mine I couldn't find an NE withought it, would have made detailing a lot easier.
Trying to learn how to do tire tread in Fusion 360, while making a model of a model. Not a particularly brilliant idea. The original article, in August '85 Model Railroader, is good but lacks a few dimensions. Perhaps if the author had gone back and tried to build a second one from his article it would've helped as he could have found missing data.
This one’s pretty old.
Was that from the guy who had the N scale shop in his garage in Renton (think it was Carl King)? I think he closed in the late 90's!
