I've never heard of Monroe Models, so assume they're not active in N scale?

They do HO and N. They laser cut a N scale depot for me a while back.

Monroe is probably best known for their portals and bridges, and for their gantry crane (useful for loading from flatbed to flatcar on your team track or foundry). I was surprised, looking that the link from Tom L, how many structures they make in N scale. I think I may have their Langdon coal elevator kit buried in a box somewhere.

I believe I've seen Monroe Models booth at the Springfield show few years back. They seemed like a small cottage-type industry.  I did not know  they were big enough of a company to acquire another model RR manufacturer, but then again, it probably doesn't take much to buy out another small model manufacturer.

Really, really glad to see this.   Marshall and his wife were to the point where the business was nearly a burden yet a valuable and unique niche market.

If there's anybody else out there with GHQ parts, I haven't found them, and I'd rather use cast-metal GHQ parts than anything RP made.  And the kits..... the structures are just awesome, probably the only ACCURATE sawmill kit (McCabe) ever made in N.

We've survived NWSL, Grandt, and now Republic.   Whew.

I agree that kit is well done, and I have one but BTS http://btsrr.com/ licensed RLW to offer their designs in N Scale.

Good new!
Bruce has a good eye-his existing products make sense.
I am sure he will be a good steward of Marshall’s products!

Thank you, everyone.  Yes, it does sound like a good match.  Marshall's business wasn't a large company, so this is basically one "cottage industry" buying another one.

I built up one of his depots for a friend when Monroe models first started, not knowing that they were going to take it on the road as a display model. Great kit. I’m excited to see him take over the RLW line.

Here was my mini scene…

A multimedia kit with nice details.

Best regards,
Michael Livingston

@thbguy ....The depot on your diorama looks more like the Danielson Building from Motrak Models (see link below)

A few years ago Monroe purchased the weathering powders and scenery items of AIM. The scenery items were plaster wing walls, portals and bridges. I think they maybe a bit more then a cottage industry.
