Nashville National N Scale Convention

Hey Everybody!

Status update on the Nashville Convention for everyone-

Online registration ends on June 1, but we will be having registration onsite starting on Wednesday June 15. Tours are booking up quickly, so if you want to join any of the programs, I recommend you jump on this quickly.

The convention APP is up on both the Apple App store and Google Play. We have tested it on iOS and Android, and it works great. Don has enhanced the app so that your personal schedule can be added to the app via a QR code. And if you have a room sale, you can announce it via the app with ease.

One of the new additions to the program is the ‘online modeler’s meetup’ at 6:30p. At registration, ask for a second badge to hang from your first one, and add your forum and your handle so people can put a face with the screen name.

Bring your best work and show what is possible in N Scale. We have enhanced the contest voting by making it worth your while to come on by, look and vote. For every completed ballot you will receive a coupon for 5 FREE raffle tickets. At the same time, voting for vehicle of the year will happen in the same place. (If you have already voted on line, Carter would appreciate you not duplicating your vote)

For those of you planning on ‘rotating’ (selling off or acquiring) some equipment at the convention, room sales, the Swaparama, the live auction, and the silent auction are all on the menu.

Great clinic program on Friday and Saturday, and NRail curated layouts will be all available from Weds through the public show on Saturday. In other words, come join your fellow N Scalers and have a great time!

Best-

George

Hey Conventioneers!

We just noticed something on iOS in testing the Convention App-  If you have the one from our last convention, it will hold the announcements from that convention when it auto- upgrades to the new one. All it takes to fix is delete the app, and go back to the App Store and download it again. It's free. and that will get you up to the latest information.

Still testing the Android version.

Best-

Can not locate the app in Google play. All that pulls up are a ton of stock exchange apps.

Update, search for N Scale Enthusiasts

App smapp!!!
I’ll just print out the schedule and carry it with me….easier than finding the webpage, scanning a QR Code, finding ot that the result isn’t for THIS event, and trying to read a iPhone screen to figure out where to go.
Sometimes technology isn’t the answer….

If you search for N Scale Convention or N Scale, it should pop right up.

Thank you for the link George. I finally was able to find it searching those words instead of the NSE 2022. Unfortunately it crashes as soon as the icon is clicked. I'm not sure what is going on. I've restarted my phone and re-installed with no change.

I also have this issue. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and still have not gotten the app to launch, and says the app keeps crashing.

Can you tell me what the symptoms are so I can talk to the developer and see if we can suss it out?  Android or iOS? Version of software? When you say crash is it a lock up, or something different?

I want to get them to take care of this before we all arrive, so thank you in advance for your help.

I am using Android V12, and the App simply closes again when I try to open it.

Just spoke with the developer and a revised version has been submitted to Google for approval. I will post when it is revised in the Google Play store.

Thank you for your help and letting us know.

The new version of the Android Convention App is up now on the Google Play store and ready for download. Please delete your existing Android version and grab this one. (Apple iPhone users, the iOS version has no reported errors). Thanks for your help testing this thing out.

George, in your initial post you made the above statement, while the actual users experience seems to indicate the app was broken. Sounds like it was not just some feature within the app, but it just wouldn't run at all.  What happened with all the testing?

Peteski-

The development environment of the app was somehow different than the release version out in real phones and not in the sim. Since I don't have an Android phone, I did my review in the testing environment, and not on a real phone. Lesson learned, and I won't be repeating that again.

Since then, I have engaged our editor, Paul Graf, with his Galaxy, and several others who have the "right" phones for real world testing. It has been reported as fixed, but I'd like the folks here to test it as well and confirm that it is indeed 'fixed'.

Again, thank you for the help, as I am not an Android user.

The app appears to be working correctly on my Motorola Android phone. Thank you to all involved with the app.
