Haha!  That’s awesome.  Is that a bacon explosion on the grill?

Can't be. The grill isn't engulfed in flames.

Ed, I'll give you $20.00, if you paint 611 in Conrail livery.  C'mon!  A phallus in Conrail garb?!  You'd be in heaven.   :D

DFF

Oooo.. Challenge Accepted!!!!!... (I've got some 611 parts that I have no use for...)

The thing that bugs me about that is that they didn't carry the stripes to the cab like they should've.

But it's offset by the fancy silver trucks.

The funny thing is that it's not as truly insane as you'd think. EMD had sent the PRR a proposal for a double unit. But it was an electric.
https://crhscollection.omeka.net/items/show/16117

Most GE units didn't have a long can opener until the C30-7s. The B23-7 fleet stopped short of the cab on initial paints.
I NEED to model that proposal. It looks straight forward enough. Maybe Bachmann DD40 trucks under a milled SD40-2 chassis?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

They're all great, but here's some prototype inspiration: https://crhscollection.omeka.net/items/show/8809

It got demoted to a switcher between product runs.

Lol, it took me a minute to get this, lol.

Dooooo it!!

Also, I disagree about the early paints. Maybe not right to the wall, but still the big road unit logo: https://conrailphotos.thecrhs.org/photos/cr-6831-selkirk-ny-8-10-1979

I love big electrics, so I'd been thinking the same thing.

At 88' long it's longer than even a SD80MAC, but shorter than a DD40AX.
Turns out though it is bang on for a DD35, and it is possible to modify a DD40AX to DD35 length: https://jamestrainparts.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/dd35-instructions1.pdf
I just don't know how well Atlas or Kato shell parts would work with the Bachmann chassis, although there is an unpowered chassis available from James Train Parts on Shapeways.

If anyone does one of those electrics, PLEASE do a write up for the Conrail Quarterly.

Building a crazy model based on something in our collection has got to be part of the official record.
