Thanks Chris...  Now that I've had a chance to get over the shock of it, it's still a decent deal for a really fantastic machine.

Will likely order it once I can confirm that the "gift" is what it appears to be and not some payroll glitch.

All I can say is shipping costs aside, you will not be disapointed with this machine. Mine has been running practically non stop since I got it, and the results are incredible. Make sure to get the 8k resin too, it makes a difference.
Because why not...

Thanks for the encouragement...  Going to order it this afternoon once I get home from work.

There's a guy I've been following on YouTube that has been working on an early Alco/GE/Ingersol Rand boxcab diesel for HOn3.  He's using a narrowed Bachmann HO 45 tonner for a mechanism.

All the parts, body, truck gearboxes, etc, are printed on a Sonic Mini-8K.  The body has "scale" rivets and the darn thing looks almost injection molded.  It's that good...

Damn!!!  That's stunning...  Incredible detail reproduction.  No sagging or filling in of open details.

That pretty much settles it for me.  DEFINITELY going to order one today.

No, not yet. I am getting ready to add the magnetic build plate. I am trying to tweak the print times to be faster as well. It’s a really great machine but times projected don’t match the actual print times. I am thinking thats a Chitu 1.9.1 issue. I will update when I get more time with it.

I added the wham bam plate to the SM8k and it works great. I did have to modify the opto blocking metal strip in the back to be longer. I used aluminum tape to extend it. I learned that more reflective material is better for those optical switches. If you add one make sure you come up with some way to make the area longer because I started carving out with a dremel the bracket that holds the buildplate but it was overkill. The aluminum tape was super easy.

Jeebus...  What the heck is up with Phrozen?

I ordered the Mini-8K, got the "package" with one sheet of nFEP and one liter of their 8K resin.  There was supposed to be a 5% discount on the resin and nFEP "applied at checkout".

Guess what?  No discount was applied, paid full retail for both.

To add insult to injury...  Today's "market" shipping rate went up over $21 to about $264.  Should have pulled the trigger last night, but with the current state of the world, I suppose this is what it is.

Anyway...  Sent off a terse E-mail to the Phrozen info E-mail address, with screen shots of the Mini-8K purchase page and my receipt.

Also mentioned that I have to be out of my mind for purchasing another one of their products after the debacle with the Mini-4k's and I included a photo of mine in it's fully rebuilt glory.

I asked them to apply the discount, or cancel my order.  In the grand scheme of things, it's not a lot of money, but in principal, they should do what they say.

I hope not!   :?

Now that I've had a chance to calm down, I guess I couldn't care less about the lack of discount or the extra for shipping.  It's not a terrible amount of extra $$$ and I just want the machine more than anything.

So yeah, hopefully I'll see the thing in about 10 weeks.  The downside is now I don't want to print some of the stuff I was going to do on the Mini-4K!

Rebuilt and producing prints, thanks to Chriss333's help (resin settings).

Printed off an S scale hood and radiator for a Davenport 10-12 ton Caterpillar powered 0-6-0 diesel mechanical last night.  Aside from a few small user induced imperfections (supports missing or too close together), it printed real nice.  Even the "Caterpillar" lettering on the sides of the radiator are legible.

Will take and post a photo of the Mini-4K soon...

Was just saying if they raised the shipping $21 in one day, just think what 10 weeks would do.  :scared:

Also the mini 4K group I was on wasn't ran by Phrozen, but the mini 8K group I found was. So many bad things could have been removed by Phrozen just like they were doing on their 4K group. I stopped following them altogether since it was 99.9% was game figure problems.

Ah...  Yes, 10 weeks could make a huge difference!

My luck (the story of my life) shipping will be half what it is now in a few months and they'll run a special on the machine itself.  Such is life...
