To be fair, that is the model most tech companies operate on. That is how Returns work with SnapAV

Most model  trains are produced in limited quantity.  They sell out quickly with very few spares left (try to get spare parts from companies like BLI or Scale Trains).   Yes, tech companies which sell electronic devices produce large product runs, have plenty of spares, and consider their products as throwaway items.

Model RR manufacturer a tech company?  I wouldn't think so. As I see it, they operate on rather tight budget. Sending out new models to replace defective (or slightly defective) models seems unlikely to me.  I recently found out that ZIMO actually replaces some components on defective DCC decoders.  ZIMO is more of a tech company than BLI, yet they bother to actually fix those highly integrated decoder boards..

He does have an email icon in his profile.  I would reach out via that avenue since he hasn't seen the instant message notifications.

Uh oh!  I hope he's ok.  Maybe on vacation?  Anyone has info.  I met him at the Atlantic City Gathering.  Actually he found me.  Very nice guy and very knowledgeable!

Just bought one of these locos and find that it stalls even on my super clean Unitrack test loop. My track has been "gleamed" with a stainless steel washer, polished with Flitz metal polish and treated with No-Ox-Id A-Special.

Can anyone tell me how to get the spacers that correct the pickup problem?

@narrowminded was selling a few to the peanut gallery when these were first released into the wild. They are very nice elegant little 3D Printed spacers that snap into the under frame above the pony trucks that firmly put the weight of the locomotive onto them to vastly improve power pickup. The same can be done with a bit of styrene or your own 3D printer if available. The key is to just have something that can properly transmit the locomotive weight onto the trucks.
