Also finished construction of the Erie radial roof rebuilt USRA boxcar. MTL color-matched stirrups will be epoxied in place after painting.

Busy weekend.  Timonium on Sat.  Was worth the drive especially the visit to Chaps.

Hell yeah.

How far away do you live?

A little late to the party - but I'm finishing up the York Pa PRR tower model for Ed K .. this is my engineering model used to test fit parts after primer and ready for paint = Printed on a Photon Mono SE with Anycubic Gray resin ..  If you look close enough, there are lots of flaws - but overall, it captures the model fairly well ..

Geez, saw Chaps and immediately thought it was a typo for Champs, out on Route 40 near Catonsville. Many a misspent night circling that parking lot with an occasional foray up to Ginos up Route 40...

Some updates from the last few weeks..
I finished up this plate F boxcar in BN scheme (1:450 scale).  It's a Shapeways 3D printed model with etched brass doors and decals I designed:

I started working on the 3D design for an Alco DL535E as operated by the WP&Y in 1:300 scale that will ride on the new T-Gauge 6-axle powered chassis.   I have locomotive diagrams from the Alco User's Manual, but if anyone has good drawings with measurements (or a link/reference to documents) I'd be grateful for the help.   Or maybe a trip to Durango with a tape measure is in order?

Also finished up a revised design for the British Class 55 "Deltic" that also rides on the 6-axle chassis.

I received two 2'x4' Masterpiece Module kits, and am very happy with what I have seen of the kit so far.  I'm not settled on if it will be separate 2x4 mini layouts (T & M scale), or one big one either 2x8 or L shape.   I could do a combination of the two with an M loop and a T loop.  I'm tinkering with Anyrail to see what I can come up with.    - Jesse

That's really impressive.  If you really wanted to go to town, you could do etched brass handrails, window mullions, and some of the other finer details but honestly it really looks great as it is!

Thanks .. The etched parts would give it a higher level of detail - especially the hoist assembly .. I drew this up in tinkercad so some of the parts are a little clunky -  Someone could do the etched details - but there are a lot of them -- between setup and costs and etching by PPD .. It would probably add a significant cost ..  --

Gold Metal Models

Freight car and industrial ladders (495 scale feet, two styles) - $10

Industrial railings (over 300 scale feet)  - $20

Industrial Walkways, 192 scale feet w/Handrails - $20

Industrial stairways (12 in three sizes) $20

You could probably repurpose stuff from some other GMM sprues ..

Meanwhile, displays a pic of an exact replica! :o

Reminds me of that scene out of Back to the Future, where Doc Brown says, "please excuse the crudeness of this model". ;)

By Sunday night my CR 3278 project is coming along.

I have to say that I am not impressed with Tamiya Flat Clear as a Dullcote replacement. It's not nearly as "flat" as it claims.

Nice looking patch job Ed, I've always liked CR patches, lots of colors.
Made a few for a buddy of mine several years ago as he decided to model early CR.

Here's a few I did up for him

Now get that beast weathered!

The Mr Surfacer people make a flat clearcoat that works well.

Rattle can or airbrush @Ed Kapuscinski ?  I have found that airbrushing XF86 gives somewhat of a satin finish.  Adding a few drops of XF21 "flat base" helps, but too much can cause a dusty/frosty look.

Dullcote sure is the gold standard, but definitely not basement-friendly  :o
