IIRC the silvers have a speaker installed, so all you need is the decoder
Since they’ve already brought out the GP20’s again (not sure if they had sound though)
Announced but they haven't arrived yet. Currently scheduled for Q1 2022 (yeah) so maybe by this summer or Fall. They were re-designed for sound so maybe that's why the GP7/9 finally got sound too. I wouldn't expect these to show up before 2023 though given the current delays - the GP20 was announced Nov 2018. Last Feb it was in the arriving section of the Winter catalog but it never happened.https://shop.atlasrr.com/t-ordership.aspx
Whether announced or here, it still begs the same question as to if they’ll keep their own tooling or use the old Walthers frames for the new run. I’m sure, had they not bought the tooling, they would have modified their own frames. But I don’t see it making any sense to modify two sets of tooling for something that’s the same regardless of if it’s the one you built versus the one you bought.
Yep. We wont' know until either the 20's or the 7/9 show up or maybe @Atlas Paul visits and lets us know.Given the amount of change to make the chassis conform to the ESU decoder platform it does probably make sense to make whatever other changes might be necessary so that both the 7/9 and the 18/20 shells fit one chassis. I don't know how close they were to begin with. I have a number of newish GP7's but the only GP18/20's I have are the two on order and waiting for delivery..
As much as I would like to have some cement hoppers, I'm going to have to think long and hard at that price. Hopefully it's a typo. But otherwise, the Trainmasters in SP will be ordered. I have a pair in Black Widow, but I'd much prefer the bloody nose scheme.
Four New Haven 9s with sound coming this way. If the deco is better than when it was last released in `08, it will be a straight replacement of the current units. Otherwise, shell-swaps.
You know, costs unfortunately do go up, both tooling and production. Smaller production runs also add to price increases. Two levels of discounts, for distributors and retailers, also must be accounted for. And that’s MSRP. It’s not as if that’s what most people will be spending to acquire the model.
The gold versions for $250 (page 7 of the catalog).Jason
I think I'd be in for a couple RI GP7s if I can find out if they are doing silver trucks/tank or the black shown in the artwork.Anyone had luck contacting Atlas lately?Jason
FAs were announced in 2018. They are scheduled to ship this quarter.
