Ahh yes, the RhB's self-propelled rotary!  At least, it can propel itself around the yard.  As far as I know it's the only factory-built, self-propelled, steam rotary still in service.

At the other extreme, there's BNSF 972554, class RSP38-2:


Other than the GP38-2, and the rotary housing/blade, I have no idea what was used.  Last I heard it was based in Wenatchee.

After a lovely visit with the Wizard of the Woods, I was able to acquire the Newport and Rock Falls layout that he built using retro kits, track and trains.


The new ownership's train arrived on the property this morning!

On the home stretch with building my HOn3 D&RGW Jordan Spreader OU.  After studying photos of the prototype, I added the very end of the side blade wing extensions, made out of styrene.  I then mounted the side blades onto the car body, followed by the final v-bracing between the blade raiser and front end.  The last major part of the build is adding the blade extender arms (as seen in the last photo), which will need to be kit bashed/scratch built.

I’m a little troubled by the choice the designer made in locating the middle window on the right hand side from the front.
It appears the lowest part of the window would line up with the floor?

I have actually seen houses in the Midwest with that kind of window configuration. Usually there is mid level landing with a 90 degree turn in the staircase.

Absolutely! I’ve got one just as you describe, except it’s on the west coast, is double width, and include a nice piece of stained glass across the top. It is arguably the grandest part of this old house.

Playing with my new 3D printer and working with on multiple projects simultaneously. I received a donor Super Chief RPO today and put the floor under a Budd RPO with new trucks. Have to print the glass but looking good so far.
