Black Hawk & Ironwood - Hon30 Mini Southwest Layout
« on: January 03, 2022, 11:17:12 PM »

I am in the process of making a mini test layout in Hon30. I have some peco track I may use but I had planned to use my 3d printed Hon30 track. We will see.

Starting with some 20"x30" foamcore.

Cutting a slot for the top to sit into.

Cutting the slots for the corner coves

Wrapping the edge band around the top.

Connecting the edges

All taped up and glued - I used wood glue but should have used hot glue.

More to come ...

About half the images in this post are oriented the wrong direction. Does anyone know why? Is it a mac thing? Is there a fix?

Tim, I think it's an iPhone thing. I've had the same issue before. iPhones for whatever reason assume that in landscape mode for pictures the "bottom" is the edge of the phone with the volume buttons, which typically I have facing up as they are also used to take a picture.

Rotating the pictures in some photo editing software to the correct orientation and save has solved it for me in the past

Here is a technical explanation (easily understandable to all).

I would coat that foam board with something so the water doesn't mess it up.

Yep you coat it with polyurethane and it makes it both sandable and quite a bit stronger. I have a different material (coroplast) for the real mini layout. This is kind of a bonus I didn’t want to waste.

Yeh I knew the technical reason. There is “orientation” in the photo iptc meta info. I was hoping for a fix or trick on the forum side of things. Sounds like cropping is it really.

I have the cork down and will be redoing what was the track plan. If you can call it that.
Any ideas or inspiration for a 20”x30” Hon30 loop and possibly an incline/upper loop are appreciated.
It looks kind of crummy now but it’ll come around.

I'm pulling inspiration from these minis.

On30 mini no idea who did it. If you can help me shed some light I'd love to know who did it.

The On30 one is 2 levels. I think I've seen a video of it.
