Which turnout is the insulated frog one?
Dave for the few turnouts this layout is going to have, why not just hand lay them. Get the paper templates from Fast Tracks and a small package of the copper ties.Scott
Thanks for the message Scott I am hand laying some of the turnouts on this threads layout. See above a few messages for the 3d printed jig I made. You might be thinking this is Dave’s Hon30 layout thread. We are co-oping info so it’s understandable.
Been awhile since I have gotten to work on this lil guy.I ended up doing just that I created a 3d printed turnout template for no 2.5 turnout. I have unsoldered the old track and am moving in the new turnouts. (Attachment Link) (Attachment Link)
Here you can see 3 turnout linkages above the layout:https://photos.app.goo.gl/d9iSh4EWNKwpH1mUAOne was hidden in a hill a used a rod for me to throw it. Can't see it but:https://photos.app.goo.gl/wYfWnL8foibBT66m7One is hidden under the roof of this freight depot:https://photos.app.goo.gl/LikxcqEboCp3WP8a6The last is inside this old boxcar shack:https://photos.app.goo.gl/xYQZ5vsA1HEBkmFf8https://photos.app.goo.gl/9ft3mULq4dvm1Er76It was all planned ahead of time Also did mini switches like this:https://photos.app.goo.gl/VVZaARUABMPHcodw5There is another way that I have done a bunch that uses a 1/8" brass tube with another rod inside of it. A little hook solders on to the top to connect to the throwbar. The slide switch then goes under the layout. It will work with thick foam base. Just poke a hole with a small round file in a drill. Looking for the pics..... EDIT here it is. Made about 100 of these:https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?media/mr-scan.22249/
Learn from my mistakes @Dave V make sure to cut the gaps under the turnouts. Your plan might be ready for the power routing but mine is shorting because I didn’t snip the parts Peco says to.
