Made a little more progress on the stockyard

And painted up some of the cattle I got from @metalworkertom

I wish I could see your work. Where are the pics?

I’ve been busy in the paint shop lately.

This was a back burner project as I had originally intended to build this Kato F40 into a VIA Rail model… but then Rapido announced theirs. So I decided to have some fun. In 1990 Diet Pepsi partnered with VIA Rail and Much Music for the “Diet Pepsi Taste Drive”. A promotional tour where they gave away Isuzu Troopers (and probably a lot of Diet Pepsi).

Here is the front end of the train. It also has a VIA baggage dorm, two Chateau sleepers, a dining car, and a Park car.

Work under way in my F40ph:

This is the steam generator car:

And the flat car:

Not sure where the get the Troopers from.

As far as I know they aren’t available in N scale. If anyone knows a source for a 1990’ish Isuzu Trooper I’d love for you to share!

I’ve also nearly completed work on my ONR Polarbear Express FP7A.

More in this one is my PBX build thread:

It has to do with a security setting.  See this post:

Spotted these two American Bald Eagles when out on a Christmas Day walk today with the family.   The first one was in the tree near the local neighborhood lake.  The second one was near the end of our walk, he flew up and landed on top of the utility pole just as we were walking near by, almost right below.  It felt like he had been waiting to show himself to us.

For some reason the eagle always makes me think of my father (who is passed away 20 years ago this coming January).   I have to think this was his way of sending a Merry Christmas message to us from Heaven.

Craig,

There are no "mass produced" N scale Isuzu troopers, but Wiking made a Mercedes G Class that looks somewhat like a Trooper.  You can find a photo of the Wiking model here:  http://nscalevehicles.org/resources/era_2000-2009.php

The next closest mass produced mid-size N scale SUV would be the Atlas Ford Explorer.  You can find a photo of most of the 1990s era "ready to use" N scale "light duty" cars, vans, SUVs and trucks here:  http://nscalevehicles.org/resources/era_1990-1999.php

Jens Jahn (madaboutcars on Shapeways) likely has something that would be even closer, and you could contact him through his Shapeways "store."

TomyTec makes a Suzuki Jimmy (1:150 scale) but it is only a 2-door, so that one probably would not be close enough.  Here is a photo of the Jimmy parked between a Busch Mercedes ML and the Atlas Ford Explorer.

We definitely could use more N scale SUV models!

Thank you! Haha true, the train is the giveaway.

Your scenery is stunning, and the stone arch bridge looks amazingly real. The only thing that gives it away is the train
And yea, Merry Christmas back!

Thank you very much for posting this link!  I had seen this one in my searches but it’s too new. I need a boxier 80’s version.

This is only one I found on shapeways. Looks like the late 90's version unfortunately.

Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Was pleasantly surprised when I spotted the pair again while out on a morning walk today.   I think they are the same ones.   This is the most I have seen of eagles of late, since we first moved to this area >20 years ago.

(I wonder if my Dad is trying to tell me I should be modeling the MoPac :D )

Also got another neat little surprise of a slightly different kind as a Christmas gift:

Merry Christmas!  ;)

We have a pair nearby we have been watching for 3 or 4 years, and can see their nest from a highway we frequently travel. We have seen them raise at least two broods. To our surprise we spotted another pair at the other end of town not but a few months ago, seeing one of them almost in town last week. We have stocked lakes around here, so the fishing is good; they don't have to send out for pizza (readers of The Other Coast comic strip will understand).

I think our most memorable experience in eagle spotting was golden eagles in Utah while we were following the LA&SL. In a 30-40 mile stretch there was a nest on a signal wire pole every mile. Not every mile and a half, or 3/4 of a mile - every mile, precisely. Yeah, there was some fudging in this because of the pole spacing and that the nests were on poles with double crossarms, but there were a lot more "double" poles then there were nests. Fascinating.

Hi everybody ,
3 years ago I saw a picture of a special covered hopper with a professional Christmas graffiti made by CN .
At the time I found a company who had done the decals , ordered it and it died on my benchwork , like some others projects ...  :|

A couple of weeks ago after a cleanup of the benchwork I found the decals and decided to finish that project , a simple one before Christmas would be fun .
I first settled on an IM covered hopper , but it was not the exact model , in fact the exact to my knowledge does not exist in N scale  .
Then I decided not to destroy a nice CN Intermountain and decided to attack an old Model Power ( maybe Life Like )  model that was collecting dust in a scrap box , the body is far from the real car but it's ok .

I painted the car with a rattle can .
I changed the trucks/couplers to brown MT .
And decals it .

Satisfied even if the body is wrong .
