Seriously, if anyone wants to do the cat herding and let me know when and where to show with my gear for the family photo, let me know.

Soooo.....anyone checked the weather lately for West Springfield?  Depending on what you read (Weather Channel, Accuweather, etc.) they are saying anywhere from 5" to 18" of snow on Saturday.  5" ok but 18"???!!!  Yikes!   :o

With that broad range it means they are still not sure.  But has anyone gone when there were significant amount of snow?  Impact on the show other than getting to the show safely from where you are coming from?

If the show goes on, it would be a good time to make an attempt at going if it can be done safely.  More deals to be had with fewer people :D

Hmmm...never thought of it that way!  More inches of snow = better deals.  Bring it on baby!   8)

"But has anyone gone when there were significant amount of snow?"

Several years ago (5-7 maybe) there was a storm that had 8-10" on the ground Sat morning.  Show went on.  It was great for the first few hours as the crowds were much smaller.  If I was coming this year, I would be seconding guessing at this point.  I'm about 4.5 hrs away.

The local station just south of there (where I live in CT) is saying 3" - 6" for the "US Model" or 12" - 18" for the "European Model", but this is likely to change over the next few days.  Something to keep in mind, we've had a few small storms in the last week or so, where the projected snowfall was a bit to a lot higher than what actually ended up on the ground after the fact.  So the forecast track record for the area has been a bit off this winter.

If you're coming from <30min away as I am, unless it's a complete whiteout, you'll probably be OK to get to the show.  Just expect to take 2X as long.

So 8-10 inches didn't faze them so I think this will be ok then.

If I were 4.5 hours away I wouldn't even be second guessing, I would just cross it off my calendar.

I'm only 2.5 hours away and I'll be traveling Friday and Sunday when the show is over.  Technically not during the storm but I don't like digging out my car with 12" of snow in a hotel parking lot.  Did that a few times when I was working up in Boston.

Atlas, Digitrax and Lowell Smith will be MIA too but this was before the forecast of the Nor'easter.

Lighten up Francis, even with no manufacturers present, I'd still go. Rochester & Syracuse shows had no manufacturers present this season IIRC, and they were still worth going to. Let's wait and see what the forecast says as we draw neigh eh?

No Atlas? At $48 per cement hopper, would YOU want to face the public with their torches, pitchforks, tar & feathers?

Unfortunately, I am not willing to get on a plane right now to attend.  This is one show that warrants a cross country trip, but not this year.

In all previous years, the show was on the "empty" weekend before the Super Bowl.  I guess the Super Bowl is a week later this year due to the 17 week schedule, but perhaps the Big E was not available Feb. 5-6?

Go 49ers.
