3D Printed Figures

A friend of mine was asking if I could print him some figures with my 3D printers, I have 2, a Photon S and an Ender 3Pro. I've had a look around and there really isn't much to find. Thingiverse has a couple of people but their search engine is just about the most frustrating thing out there. Most searches come up with fantasy figures.

Do any of you know of a sourse for decent 3D printable figures? Almost any would do but obviously would prefer train related figures. Scale doesn't matter as the slicer can take care of that.

I've seen the O scale guys who must have had real people scanned to make very realistic figures. But never asked if the files were for sale.

Yes, I've seen some of those too. They're very good and I love the idea of including friends as characters on my layout. Unfortunately, the 3D scanners to do this are a bit expensive. Still, I can see one day where we just might ask a friend or two to step into our scanner and shortly thereafter we get a very nicely rendered 3D model of them to place on our layout.

The mall a mile away has a shop that will print "you" in color so I'd guess they have a scanner. Have no idea what it costs for just a scan or if they would even give you the file.

A couple shops on Shapeways are doing figures in N, and animals.

There is a neat little program (free) called MakeHuman that you can use to create your own, convert them to stl files via Blender.
Fairly easy to learn and quote powerful.

Chris, that looks very interesting. I can see an inkjet-type resin printer working as long as you can keep the resin from curing in the printhead. It could really create some interesting figures. I wonder how much it is? Probably way to much for us lowly model railroaders.
