Jeez! Both Chris333 and Dr Hotballs making Nscale layouts again!! Like old times! I guess you CAN go home again (back to N scale).

All the slide switches are installed under the layout, the turnouts now have pressure on the points and they work pretty good. Built up the whole base around the track to bring it up to the tie level so it looked more industrial and not mainline. And painted/weathered the ties. Later on after ballast I will paint the rails.

Hi Chris - Is it possible to show/describe what the turnout switch arrangement is...I have a bunch of Tomix turnouts and would like to understand how you used the slide switchs if thats ok.

I really like this layout visually and for it's operation potential. There's so much to like - for example the sidings to the factory with the platform loading and  track that leads into the building itself. Really clever use of the space between tracks and the angles.

Thanks for any info on the slide switches and turnouts if you have a moment.

All the best

Andy

Feeling good Lewis.

There is a pic right on the site  :P
https://www.printables.com/model/528935-n-scale-garage

But it was a made up building anyways. Made to look like a DPM HO garage kit.

LOL.  Well, I'm sure I ran across it, saved the STL's, and promptly did nothing for a couple years.  Next time I'll save the JPG too!

I balloon roofed it, something we see in Chicago.

Either way, thanks for sharing the files!

Your little white building... further along than mine ever was. I just found it Yesterday and it was still on it's raft with supports. Should be cured after 2 years

Trying to catch up. I added this tiny bar on the corner.

I think it was cast in resin by Charlie Vlk?

And worked on the road and sidewalk at the coal dealer.

I was wondering... I built the HO kit from WS long ago. I wish it were commercially available in N scale.

Hi @Chris333
Just to ask whether you might have seen my question in reply #109 above and if it might be ok to help with that? Having said that - I have searched this site for slide switches and turnouts and seen a few posts of the use of one with the other so I think I've got a feel of the style of what you probably did. What I'm trying to say is no worries if you do not want to answer. But just in case you wanted to if you had missed my question in the thread.  Hope this comes across ok in writing! In my head it sounds ok!!
All the best

Yup, that was translated to N scale by Charlie Vlk.  The master was created with individual bricks.  It's got a lot of character!  Believe Dick Billings cast the copies and they were offered under the V-Line brand.

I also believe there was an article in N Scale magaizing about it's construction.

Andy,  I saw your question. I looked through my photos and didn't take any pics. And right now all the buildings are on the layout. I'll get a pic later today of the underside.

There are the turnouts in all their glory. I think (it was 2 years ago) the bottom of the turnout come off. I pulled everything out and threw it all in the trash. The slide switch just has a piece of music wire going up to the throw bar. You flip the switch and the turnout throws.

There is no frog to power, but you could using the switch contacts.

You can also run rods to them the switch from the layout edge.
