Interesting. Down for me, down for isitup.org. This kind of behavior (OK for some, not for others) could indicate a DNS change that hasn't fully propagated.

I read somewhere that the site was having some kind of firewall or hardware issue.   I suppose that the silver lining there is that it means someone is trying to fix it and wants to keep the site up.

Now I am getting secure connections failures from my browser, tho it seems some browsers can connect if insecure connections are allowed.

Just don't give them a credit card or such, until it comes back..... it could take 24-72 hours for a complete DNS update to propagate.

Browsers forcing sites to https and not falling back to http is the biggest internet-breaking move ever.

There's a lot of purely informational/text sites out there without any sort of features requiring any sort of SSL/security/encryption and this move is breaking those sites.

This is admittedly not my field, but I don't understand how any of those are necessary to view pages in this case.

There is no user data on read-only sites, no need to verify, and if somebody creates a fake version, so what? It's read-only.

We've already ranted ad nauseum about the stupidity of imposing HTTPS standards on standing reference archives with no need or accommodation for user input of any kind, but here we are anyway. One size doesn't fit all, and the constant push to wipe out perfectly working legacy with zero security risk is getting a little old.

HTTPS for RRPictureArchives might not be such a bad idea.  They do allow you to register as a member, and login, so one would want that data protected. 

As far as I know, they don't sell anything, so shouldn't have any financial data on their members.
