The mansard roof on the office building could be simulated with parts from those old Model Power city buildings.  I probably have a couple floating around.  they've got the dormers cast right into them.

Oh *****, I forgot about that building!!
I think I need to raid the parts bins, but if you have a few spares, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on em.

Version 0.01 PRR York PA Coaling Tower

This is generally the layout of the building based on an article in TKM that I found .. I put this draft together ..  Tichy doesn't make the doors and windows in N Scale for this . .. still need to design the ladders, and catwalks, although I would probably use etched ...

It would be fun to try and draw up and print those dormers.  Maybe even the whole mansard roof.  Do you have dimensions in mind?

Not too many windows in a coaling tower, I would expect.

Ed,  Are you modeling steam era, or later.  John's model will print up just fine... all that iron work will be a challenge.  Or are you post steam and the ironwork has been removed.

When was that tower taken down (or is is still there?)

The first test prints off my MONO SE (which is going into the dumpster soon) .. haven't got this dialed in .. I printed this top part in pieces to speed up the print some .. and test fit some of the railings and other stuff .. I think I will be able to print a few of the details ,,

Again . this is a beta ..

That turned out great Bob .. thanks for doing the print ..  I just finished some tweaks -- such as adding windows, doors, etc ..  I split the model into two halves for to make it fit better on the build plate for printing.  Once I get a "kit" finalized I will post the files for anyone to download and print their own copy.

Well after. And honestly, I'm not sure when it came down but I should probably find out.

This is one of the nice things with modeling a later era: it's totally cool to have it stripped out, avoiding much of the annoying tricky detail parts.

It was still standing in 1985 when @wm3798 took this photo:

Oh, boy!  And all of the ironwork is still there in 1985, too!  Have fun!  :D
