I like your ideas! Especially 'Mackinac Northern'.

DSS&A's Mackinac Division would be nice as well but I doubt that there is any DSS&A equipment available in Z scale and I want to go along with what's at hand.

The DSS&A was adsorbed by the SOO Line and they (the SOO) also bought the Milwaukee. So finding a GP 38 or SD 40-2 in Milwaukee paint in the eastern peninsula is nothing unusual.
A Milwaukee and CNW E8 would be another matter though. At least the Milw used them as far as Houghton and the CNW up to Ishpeming.
I don't know if there ever was an E8 in that neck of woods.

In the end it's my RR.  ;)

This is my version of an early Amtrak passenger train.
Sure, such a thing never ran through Newberry (at least I don't know about one), but I will use it at an 'employee special'...   ;)

Re-reading this post, I realized that I wasn't quite clear, sorry.
What I meant was, would those buildings linked above pass as American buildings or are they too German?

I salvaged the brigde abutements from the old layout and re-used them for the crossing over the stream.

Be careful using foam under the river. Stuff out gasses over time and will put bubbles in whatever feature you put over it.

Interesting. So far I never had issues with bubbles.
I always cover the foam with plaster.

Things that happened lately....


The location of the station and street are more or less like the prototype.
In the background is an unloading facility for tank cars.

The original industry had a spur for tank cars, but I'm not sure if they unloaded or loaded liquid products or maybe both.



I need to raise the buildings a bit so that the box car can actually be shoved into the building...
