Got mine over the weekend...

I can't imagine being dissatisfied with the looks.   It is a Z-scale locomotive and it's REALLY tiny.   I haven't had a chance to run it yet but my dealer ran it before shipping.  See link below.  My big concern now is being able to get the shell off and getting a decoder in it.   This is an incredibly cool locomotive.

EDIT: I decided to do the cliché coin photo to demonstrate how small these are...

That's incredible.  :o  Nicer than most N scale locos to boot.  I'm sorely tempted, maybe a little switching module to go upstairs, seeing as how I grew up around these locos....

Looking for a cool Z scale layout subject now that these exist?

To assist, here are the proposed first run roadnames, and the number/scheme used in artwork. (number subject to change I would imagine)

UP #1015 Union Pacific
SP #2469 Southern Pacific
WP #1501 Western Pacific
BN #31 Burlington Northern
BNSF #3402 Burlington Northern Santa Fe
KCS #4329 Kansas City Southern
SLSF #319 FRISCO
SLSW #2488 Cotton Belt
MKT #50 Missouri-Kansas-Texas
SP #2539 Southern Pacific "Kodachrome" Scheme
GN #206 Great Northern BSB

CSX #1100 CSX
L&N #5002 Louisville & Nashville
NS #2310 Norfolk Southern
SOUTHERN #2302 Southern

PC #9518 Penn Central
CR #9539 Conrail
RDG #2762 Reading Lines
AMTK #541 Amtrak

WC #1569 CN Canadian National www.cn.ca
CP #1298 Canadian Pacific "Beaver"

It will be interesting to see what people come up with for the small Z layouts that are being suggested due to these switchers.   If I were building one, it might be @squirrelhunter 's Airlawn Industrial Lead layout set during the M-K-T times versus the version I'm modeling in the 2000's.    I know that's not much of a reach.

If I were really trying something "out there" it might be something like the Angelina & Neches River in Texas or one of the terminal/belt roads in St Louis or Chicago and just pick an industrial area.   The ANR loco would be pretty easy to paint by stripping the lettering off an NS or PC and masking the silver stripe.   Nice shortline and pineywoods background scenery.  I don't know much else about it but I bet @SSW7771 could give us a primer.

BTW, if you hurry, MBK has them on further discount as part of their 10% off locomotive sale.

I guess the 10% off ended yesterday.

Check out this photo of the printing. This was posted on the Trainbaord forum. I had to use my iPhone to zoom in to read it!

A Reading model is used for the coupler conversion document.. and a PC used for the shell removal document, so I'd assume those are the next 2...

I might order a Conrail just for the fun of it.. but no plans for a layout.

The Reading is already out, and also in stock (barely) at MBK for 10% off.
