With the Railsmith coaches and sleepers you have some added flexibility.

The TA never happened, but that E does look like a nice consolation prize.

It's about time for a new passenger train from Kato.

Red and yellow paint with a set of Bilevels would work too

It'd be nice to have a new train that wasn't something pulled by an E or F unit though.

It'd be nice to have a new train that wasn't something pulled by an E or F unit though pulled by an E6.  Not that I would not appreciate more passenger power, but most of what is left after E7, E8, various Fs, and the PA that Kato already makes, are very railroad specific (TA, E1, E2, the latter still being Es), or rare birds like the DL109 and Erie-builts.  Not that I would object, but most don't fit into the Kato post WWII

I have a decoder that says it fits a Kato E5 or E6.... Now, if Kato would only make the E6 to fit the decoder.  I know it is more complicated than this, but all they really need to do is take the fluting off the E5.  If that is an N scale model in the photo, it is disappointing in so far as, with Rock Island, they had a good reason to do the E6

Of course, if they want to make the train that was pulled by an E1A&B, I would be fine with that, too.

Looking at that instagram photo, I wondered if it might be an HO model.  If it is in N, it looks like they are doing a major upgrade- with etched grills and and maybe wire grabs, or that their paint shop has installled some new equipment to achieve the appearance of paint under the grill.  Beautiful loco in any case.

???

Kato, or rather their Kobo shops line, is, indeed, doing a Rock Island E8 in the red and silver scheme. It, more than likely, will also be offered with DCC and sound. No ‘new’ passenger sets, however, there is a re-release coming in a roadname that begins with “U” and “P”.

I wasn't going to say anything, but if that's true, someone needs to go back and fix the paint scheme.
