Can't really help with the decision but 7 looks pretty good to me but I have yet to use my resin printer so I shouldn't be commenting.

Which files are you using?  I haven't seen that test print before.  I really need to start using the printer.  I'm lazy and just keep using the Ender 3 Pro,

7 holds loose detail better but the blooming starts to become apparent.  6 seems to lose some of those loose details but lines are much crisper. Try 6.25s perhaps, might eek out a little more give on spindly details. I've been back and forth with the water washable, its convenient both in solvent costs and the fact that safe disposal just involves airing out my wash bucket when the suns out and tossing the slag left behind. But in my experience I notice it leaves a residue post curing and seems a bit more brittle.

I've ran that test file a bunch of times, always have to filter the resin when I'm done because of all the loose stuff that breaks off.

When printing the top of a model will be the least detailed, but yet this test uses the top as a gauge to set the machine? I just use settings that work for me.

Interesting -- the resin seems kind of flexible --

Even after post-curing in UV light?

I'd say split the difference and got 6.5, good place to start.

Which machine are you testing this on?

Hey John, those all seem over cured to me. From the times I am guessing you're using an RGB screen printer maybe? A photon or similar?

When I use that XP2 resin test I try to make sure the arrows barely touch and most of the tiny circles on the left are all there. The thin fans on the right and left never fully print for me so don't measure from those.

Here is one I pulled after I had the resin dialed in. The text should be crisp and the details mostly intact. I hope that helps.

p.s. I'd try 4s and 5sec as well.

Thanks Tim .. I will try the lower exposure settings today .. I'm trying to dial it in so I can print those nice looking car ends that @GaryHinshaw so graciously shared with us.    I'm using an original Photon .  but I think I am going to pull the trigger on a Mono SE pretty soon

Your image is also extremely helpful. It informs me of what I should be getting as norm.  The Elegoo box states that exposure setting should run from 5-15s .. I started with 8 because the online sources recommended that ..

Thought I saw a file once that printed an array of tests at different exposures to find the right one. They all print at once. One and done.

5 Seconds .. Looks like its time to level the print plate -- haven't done that in a few months :)

FWIW John, I suspect the original Photon will have trouble with the detail in some of my files, whereas the Mono does a great job with them.  After a modest amount of testing settings and resins, I settled on the Anycubic Basic resin and the factory recommended exposure settings.  Never found anything better, though my testing was far from exhaustive.   The Mono SE looks good.  I think you won't regret it!

In the meantime, level that build plate. ;)
