PRR 3768 Keystone Details kit for a client, about 85% complete, just have to install the headlight, add coal to the tender, finish the tender truck electrical pickup and marry the shells to the chassis after testing the mech.

I built a flowering crabapple tree and planted some tulips this weekend.  Looks like some of those wild daffodils moved in, too.

Are Apple or Samsung, or any camera maker, for that matter even aware that focus stacking is a thing or that there might be a demand for it being a built in function?  I can't imagine there are too many settings outside of model photography where it's a thing, or where anyone needing it for work wouldn't have better tools with the capability built in to whatever they are using to make their images.

So I've been doing all sorts of stuff on the layout recently.

I bought a $180 computer from Micro Center to run the thing. That allowed me to get JMRI up and running (pro-tip, if you're using a PR3 and recent PC, make sure to update the firmware).

That in turn allowed me to make sure that detection was working. It was.



Then I spent some time messing with my locking hand throw switches with reporting. See the thread here (please, I need some info about diodes):

That really is cool and novel, Ed.  I like it.  Any chance you can take a Dremel to those exposed screw tips in the box?  Or, are you expecting your operators to literally give "blood, sweat, and tears"?

Too funny.  You really only need to take the sharp point off and don't necessarily have to cut them back flush with the box.

I like the aesthetics of those, but these are the cheapo wood screws that came with the cheapo mini hinges, so they're not machine threaded.

I think it'll just be hitting them with the Dremel and calling it done.

So one of the screws should be rusted to hell and falling apart with some PC green showing through the rust.

The other one should be solid gold.
