N Scale Supply Is Expanding!
« on: September 18, 2021, 11:58:28 PM »
Exciting news, NSS is expanding into a larger space in the same building, and also picking up some of the 'other' scales such as HO, O, and Z ;)

It is really great to see the hobby experiencing positive growth trends.  Congrats and best wishes for success to Scott and his team!

Cheers,

Yup. Scott and I had a chat a few months back about how well things were going due to COVID lockdowns and folks wanting something to do, and there were plans afoot to expand with the upturn. Glad to see these plans come to fruition.

Way to go!

They have a great store.  I have to believe that an all (or most) scale business model, combined with their net presence is the only way to go as a hobby store from now on.

I went to the Temple train show, and the used stuff vendors were complaining that train shows are dying off, or at least dwindling off in sales, attendance, etc.  And, I heard that pre-Covid as well, so its not just a recent thing.

So, who knows where this hobby goes.

Bob, I know that they used to purchase collections in the past.

Or just leaving, like me.
Glad their business model has gained them glory; because their extortionate packaging and pricing of international orders died with my last ever buy from them.

While I don't know the specific details here, I can tell you that all shipping costs (especially international) have dramatically gone up in the last 2 years (guess why -- it begins with a "C" and ends with "-19").  HAve you checked the international shipping rates in your neck of the woods?

I was at Tenple too- a couple of the used vendors had good pricing, but on stuff that probably is going to fly off the shelf in Central Texas (like a whole flat of CSX covered hoppers).

The others wanted a lot for what they had- one was wanting at or above MSRP for steam era Mopac Atlas Master boxcars, and it looked like they left with most of what they brought.

Just visited the new location - same building, now on the west side rather than the east side. Lots of space in there now.

Peteski:  I can agree on the shipping costs.  My employer, an auto filter and manifold manufacturer, has seen costs increase dramatically, and delivery times become completely unpredictable, over the last year.

I don't know about NSS's international rates, but for US shipping, I have no complaints.

I purchased a couple of items of rolling stock from them about 18 months ago, then suddenly I tried to log in and... nothing. I recreated my account and... again nothing. I have on random occasions visited their website, been prompted to log in to place an order, then find I am not logged in and there is no record that I can find that my account exists. And I seem unable to create a new one. Is there an issue with the site? They often have merchandise that I cannot find elsewhere, even eBay. Thanks.

It's working fine for me.  What exactly do you mean by, 'nothing'?
