   Con-Cor... Meet BLI...

If this is what it takes to get unique models produced in N scale...  or the HO ones sold well enough...

Hopefully I can get a Conrail T1 to go with my P5 and U50 :)

But no PC?

I'm a little surprised on the PC.  After all, if they're making Conrail, there should have been a few PC-painted ones in service as well.  Seriously, did these last long enough to serve PC?

For the GN, why not indeed.  The electrical sytems were the same, and the GN actually tested PRR E2b electrics.  The PRR, in turn, bought some of the GN's motors after the GN dieselised.  The problem was that the PRR needed speed, for fairly level track, while the GN needed tractive effort, for the Cascade Mts, so the motors themselves didn't swap well.

The MILW, of course, was DC, so couldn't have run PRR motors even if they'd wanted to.  They could have bought the GN's, and changed the motor-generator sets, if the head office hadn't been opposed to spending money on the electrification.

I, too, wouldn't mind having one of the MILW.  My only concern is the pantographs:  How high will they reach?  The MILW's wires were considerably higher than most of the PRR's, at 24' 2", and mine are also that high.  I have Overland Model's Little Joe, and it can barely reach my wires.

As a recovering SPF, I can say with some authority that to the best of my knowledge, no P5s survived into the PC era.  They were displaced by the E44s in the 60s.

So clearly if they didn't make it to PC in 1968, they sure as hell didn't make it to Conrail Blue in '76.  That said, I think one in PC paint would still be cool as a plausible "what if."

Then I suspect they left the PC version out due to a (real? perceived?) lack of PC modelers.

At least they clearly labeled them fantasy.

This, how refreshing! An honest, straightforward approach to marketing, as compared to foobs made by others that come with misleading or outright inaccurate descriptions designed to fool the unknowing buyer. Kudos to BLI!
I hope they do well with these.

As long as they are clear about what they are what is the problem?  Either they need to sell these to financially justify the run or there is a market there to bolster their profits and reduce fixed cost per unit.

For me almost all electrics look the same. Other than the GG1 and the Little Joe almost all 20th century electrics look the same to me. They are just not something that grabs my attention. However the GN and MR are intriguing. I am curious to what the sound is going to be like for a one off on my layout.

Brian:  I agree.  Modeling the BN (ex-GN), and growing up in the Northwest, I know these are not prototypical.  But they LOOK like a boxcab electric.  In fact, the GN version doesn't look that bad.  The GN's Z-class electrics were 1-D-1, so a 2-C-2 isn't out of line for the GN.

The MILW versions are less likely, as the MILW preferred more flexible wheel arrangements.  But these are no less prototypical than using Kato Japanese motors for MILW!

That's why I'm wondering if they'll work with my wires.  Does anyone here own one of the first run?

Title of the thread notwithstanding,  BLI has not produced any P5's in N yet.  This is the first run in N-Scale.   There have been HO scale runs previously.
