They got them during their careers because apparently crews didn't like sliding off the walkways. Apparently the 567Bs were "oily disasters" (according to a friend).

I'm not sure exactly my plan. I've thought about using SW1500s ones, but I'm going to see what else I have kicking around. I'm only concerned with getting "close".

I might have a set of Athcabasca Shops hand rails. I only used the end rails for an MU equipped SW1200.

I just ordered a batch of assorted handrail sets from Atlas. I'm gonna see if any of them will work.

I have two sets of engineer's side old Life-Like GP18 handrails that look like they'd work. Why I don't have two of the matching conductor's side? Only the winds of time know.

Think I used a set of GP20 (remember when those were like $12 bucks) handrails for this:

I do, and that was my hope too. But apparently I only have two left feet.

I'll never understand why SW models cannot come with full length handrails in N scale. In this case, the Maine Central SWs all were built with them.(fooobie!) In addition, there is no set available to represent the factory built units that came with them. (the Athabaska set is too tall)

This makes me wish Arnold had better sucess with their line of US models , as their SW1 was offered with full length handrails,(the only MFR of N scale EMD switchers to offer them so far) which are too short to be used on later model SWs unfortunately . Unless a fix comes along, I will pass on these Broadway locos, despite being a MEC modeler, and one who wants to represent these locos on the roster. I have plenty of SW models without handrails already

I picked up some Atlas handrails to try.

Looks like you want RS3 ones: PN 421208

There is, of course, the roll-your-own option for handrails like I did on my N scale SP SW1200's.

These were done with GMM stanchions and phosphor bronze wire...

Couldn't be more pleased with how these came out!

I wouldn’t want to use the RS-3 handrails because of the Alco stanchions.  But YMMV.

That's actually a feature, not a bug, in this case.

The Erie/ EL NW2s didn't use standard EMD stanchions. They're their own fabricobbled things that actually look more like the Alco ones than regular EMDs. I would've lived with the EMD ones but I'm actually happy it's working out this way.
