Here is a quick one, an Atlas 17600 tank car upgraded with @GaryHinshaw 's awesome 3D printed end platform parts.  I didn't have time to paint/weather it yet, so you can still see the new wire parts.  I think the details will show up better after weathering, but even at this point you can see that they make for a dramatically improved model.

Assembly was not by any means difficult, and the parts fit together quite well. The are however pretty delicate and even the de-spruing process has to be done with considerable care (and magnification). Take your time when assembling and do not try to force anything (I even slightly enlarged the bolster pin holes for an easier fit).  If you ever tip the car over, you likely will be replacing some parts (ask me how I know).  While that is true of most N-scale models anyway, these definitely are not something for the cat to play with.

Lastly, here is a quick pic of the car with a few of its "big brothers", all patiently awaiting similar (Proto:48 style) treatment :)

(Notice how those big guys tip to the side.... the OW5 trucks are too wide for the P48 track, so they sit with the wheel flanges on one side up on top of the rail heads.  :o )

For the last little while I’ve been building a train typical of what VIA Rail runs on the Quebec Windsor corridor. It’s an abominable mash up of a P42, LRCs in various paint schemes, and some Budd stainless. This week saw completion of the two Canada 150 themed pieces of the train. Well, almost. I still need to find the windows for the LRC and install horns on the P42. But painting and decorating are done.

Craig.

Not a lot for me this week. I finished the control panel--

And I illuminated a Model A Tudor.

Maybe it’s me…what an ugly duck of an engine. But what a beautiful model, great paint and lettering job!

Thank you very much. And you are correct. It’s absolutely hideous. So is the whole train. Here is the consist. The Canada 150 P42. A stainless ex UP baggage (to the left and incomplete), a VIA 1 business class LRC with its own odd paint job. Two regular blue LRCs, the Canada 150 LRC, and a stainless coach (which has yet to upgraded to the more modern HEP 2 type markings with enormous Canada logo on the side. Gross.

I decided to renumber my Intermountain CNW SD40-2s. I just couldn't take it anymore. That is NOT traditional yellow! Compare it to the Atlas models. The GP40 on the bottom in "traditional yellow" and the SD on the top in Zito. It may be hard to tell the way the photo came through. I decided to declare mine Zito yellow and redecaled them to reflect the correct font. It appears that neither roadnumber were ever repainted into Zito. Foobs or not, to me, they just look better. And frankly Scarlett...

It’s black. Well mostly.

I had a little wire handle to hold it with in the spray booth and of course I dropped it when the pain was still wet. No structural damage, but the paint was ruined. The second time the paint was chemically induced to part ways with the brass. I do learn from my mistakes; hence the dowel rod handle. I’m going to let the paint cure for a whole before applying decals.

I’ve also been doing some retro modeling. That means HO scale for me. These are two old truck kits, the box truck is a Lindbergh kit and the car hauler is a Con-cor kit with Oxford Diecast Edsels.

I’ll probably work up some truck stop diorama, maybe the Dixie Boy. :D

Rides high, lacks detail, super extendo truck mounted couplers but I decided to finish it off, especially now that I have a proper SLA printer. Conrail X60P printed on a Prusa Mini FDM. It'll blend right in as an NTrak filler car with some weathering.

I gutted and decoderized a seventeen-year-old Atlas CW40-8.

Interestingly, Code 40 rail in N scale is a slightly larger scale height (6.4") than the Code 125 in O scale (6").  ;)

"I gutted and decoderized a seventeen-year-old Atlas CW40-8."

At first glance I read that as "deodorized" and wondered when they started including scents in locomotives....

Given what they already have in the way of lights, sounds, and other electronics, I wouldn't have been surprised if that was what it really said.

Great depth of field on the focus!  Is the pic photo stacked?

No, just a quick grab from an iPhone 7+.  It probably helps that I’m backed out from the subject and may have had a little zoom.  I really want to learn how to use photo stacking software, though.

Thanks,
