I'll just happen to be in Denver Sept 6th. We want to find the 4014. Anyone know where she will be hanging out at ? I'd really like to catch her running. Seen 6 of the 8 big boys we have and 4014 I haven't seen yet. Like to see her underway.
Thank you,
KTB
I still have to get to TX for 4018. All these have been on motorcycle rides from DE

39th & Wynkoop St. Denver CO arriving 7PM on the 5th, departing 8AM on the 7th.
Of course, California gets no love (and probably doesn't deserve any from past experience)

I'm going to have to take next Friday off to chase it into New Orleans and then Sunday to chase it back out.

Hmmm... a Friday vacation day could turn into a three-day weekend round trip from west-central PA to Chester IL to see it...

Ok we have the location of where 4014 will be in Denver for display but anyone know the route she'll take getting there. I'd really like to see her underway and not sitting still simmering.
Thank you,

If you scroll down to the schedule for Sept 5th on the UP Steam page, they list each town they will be stopping in along the way to Denver. Typically they are making these stops for checking and greasing the running gear, etc. If you're in Denver that morning, you'll want to head east on I-70, and depending on how far out towards Kansas you want to catch it, follow 287 south out of Limon. The tracks are not very far from I-70 in most places, so it makes for an easy chase. And with the 30 minute stops that they make, you can catch it coming into a town, say Deer Trail, then get ahead of them while they're stopped to catch them somewhere else. I do wonder if the estimated time of 7 PM into Denver is a typo, though, since Strasburg is only about 40 miles away from Denver and I have a hard time believing they'd take 2 hours, 45 minutes to make it the last 40 miles.
And if you're going to chase them on their last day from Denver to Cheyenne, you can follow US-85 all the way. There are some nice stretches along there where you can pace the train pretty easily. Along with the rest of the chase mob, of course.

I have a daughter that lives in the St. Louis area so I am headed down there this weekend to see it Sunday 8/29 and Monday in that area. It should be fun.

I think we'll head over to Deer Trail in the afternoon on the 6th. I'm not sure what time we want to get to Deer Trail since she is supposed to be in Denver at 7pm ?

I suspect that the run to New Orleans is not going to happen given what IDA has don to that part of the world
