This past week (or two), I decided to add another alternative era to my layout for variety's sake. By moving into 1988-92 (my college years), I get to add CSX and the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Ry. to the layout as successor railroads:I expect that every few weeks I'll swap out the power and rolling stock, where necessary, and move through four different eras: Early 1960s, Early 1970s, Early 1980s, and Early 1990s. To really pull this off, I will need to find different automobiles to repopulate the layout in addition to rolling stock. For now, I'm not too worried about the anachronisms, and I'm enjoying JFRTM.I had plans on my previous layout (CPR in the Rockies) circa 1958 to add a branch line (the Windemere subdivision) set ten years previously. I wasn’t too concerned about potential anachronisms and it would allow me to operate my beloved Canadian on the main, and steam powered mixed trains on the Windemere. In ‘48 the Windemere was a backwater; now it hosts dozens of unit coal trains on their way to tidewater with coal for Japan. I have back-of-my-mind plans to try again on the current layout and I’ve included the junction at Golden in the track plan…DFF
