Little late to the party this week, But I decided to finally pull the trigger on a project I have been kicking around for a while...

This is mostly a test, to see how things go. I should have enough to have a EF-3, that will consist of a cab unit, bobtail, cab unit.
If everything ends up being a success, I will probably make at least one more bobtail, to make the EF-3 into an EF-5.
I'm not a Milwaukee road modeler normally, but being in an N-trak club, I have the opportunity to run long trains, and these were known for pulling long trains over steep grades.

Buuuuuut

You could save yourself 90% of the hassle and simply paint the EH10 for Milwaukee and the N-Trak crowd would never know the difference...

I want 5 or 6 of these:


To get them I'm starting with a Centralia Shops UP CA-3 for parts.  Tasks include:
  Extending the porch about a foot on each end
  Fabricating the end hardware
  Reduce the cupola height by about a foot and modify the cupola windows size and placement
  Create a master from which I'll cast the shells I need
  Lengthen the roof parts for each side of the cupola and create a master to cast flat parts
  Fabricate the hand grabs and such
  Make improvements to the fit of the original parts as I go

So far so good.

Very nice! I don’t know if you saw it at Ohio N scale weekend this year. There was a fellow from the Burning River N Trak group who bashed one of those. He said he used an Atlas International Standard caboose, which I’ve debated on using for a future project. I’ve been on the lol out for those UP cabooses, but never had much luck in finding them.

I think I got this idea from @OldEastRR? Anyway had some fun with the table saw and cut down three of the MT over height box cars. I know the shortcomings on these are legion, and I have replaced most of them with newer Atlas and InterMountain offerings. However there are a few paint schemes I wanted to keep. Here is the MT car on the saw, and then next to the Atlas PS-1. Both cars ride on BLMA trucks.

Wow, those are awesome results.  I’d have never guessed a table saw worked for that.

It’s already Tuesday night, but I just finished my weekend project.  Penn Central 5260 lives!



You have to hear this thing.  TCS has nailed the ALCO sound.

Before you go crazy, take a small amount of CA (or any strong controllable glue of choice) on a toothpick and run it along web of the Frog rails on the turnouts. They pop out at the slightest provocation.

This is true, But I'd know. and that would drive me nuts. lol
Not gonna lie though, Was thinking about getting a Kato EF13, add some details, and paint it up to be a Milw EP3 quill drive. It's not the right wheel arrangement, nor 100% right shape, or the right length, but I don't think anyone would except Milw fans would know.

Like I said, I'm not a Milw modeler, More of a NP guy, but I have a soft spot for some of there weirder stuff, and N-trak gives me the opportunity to run stuff like that.
